MIRACLE IN CELL NO.

7
(Movie Critique)

The movie is an impressive mix of drama and comedy. The movie revolves around Yong-
Goo, a man who is mentally ill and Ye-Seung his lovingly adorable daughter. Yong-Goo is
wrongfully imprisoned and accused of raping and murdering a little girl which is said to be a
high ranking official’s daughter. Due to the desire to buy the sailor moon bag for his daughter,
Yong-Goo followed the little girl and suddenly, the girl slip off and lost her consciousness. He
tried to save her by giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(CPR) but someone saw them and
thought he was molesting the child. Yong-Goo could not explain clearly what happened so he
just showed to the police what he did to the child but the police forced him to take off his pants
for the public to think that he raped the child. But because they are just poor, laws were followed
in an unjust way that is why he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Yong-Goo was assigned in
cell no. 7 where he and his comrades developed strong friendship. His friends in the cell helped
him to stay in touch with his daughter by bringing Ye-Seung inside the cell and they also helped
him with his case. Yong-Goo and his daughter Ye-Seung shared a lot of fun inside the jail. Jin
Young, the head of the prison adopted Ye-Seung and took good care of her. Because of the status
of her father, she studied well and became a lawyer to prove her father’s innocence. Ye-Seung
became Yong-Goo’s lawyer and she recounted the events to the judge and her father was finally
acquitted of his case. Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a South Korean film starring Ryu Seung-ryong,
