Extracurricular Episodes 6-10 Recap

Episode 6

Gyuri tries to get the Detective to leave in Episode 6 of Extracurricular, but when
that doesn’t work, the two listen to the discussion from outside the room. Lee
pulls up the motel's security footage and inquires about her companions. Ji-Soo
recognizes what day she's talking about when she says March 28th, because
that's when he saved her by calling the cops. This, however, could come back to
bite him in the future.

As soon as Min-Hee appears to be revealing the truth about her actions, Ji-Soo
enters and raises a commotion. But this does not prevent the discussion from
taking place, Gyuri is compelled to leave after filing a civil complaint.

Following this, Gyuri informs Ji-Soo about the child sex trafficking charges that
he could face, which is why the police are after Min-Hee so vigorously. Mr Lee
reprograms Min- Hee's phone and takes her bracelet just as Uncle calls her and
removes her from the operation.

Detective Lee calls Min-Hee at school to touch base with her. While she is doing
so, Ki-Tae goes with Ji-Soo to a secluded location and begins beating him up,
thinking he is attempting to take Min-Hee. Luckily, Gyuri and Min-Hee show up,
causing the former to address Min-Hee about the theft from Swarovski for Ki-
Tae.

Shortly after, Min-Hee asks Ji-Soo to accompany her, instructing him to call Gyuri
and cancel on her for the time being. Mr Lee glances at Ji-Soo suspectingly as
Min-Hee takes him there. Ji-Soo notices his phone vibrate just as Mr Lee calls
Uncle, so he hurriedly switches it off to avoid any suspicion. Min-Hee, on the
other hand, wants her severance money.

Dae-Yeol has Taerim tied and bound, assuming he's the one who's been
contacting his partner under the Blue Flavor identity. When they realize it wasn't
him by calling his number, they set out to identify the true suspect.

Following the meet up, Mr Lee and the others go outside, where Taerim spots Mr
Lee near the motel. Sadly, Dae-Yeol and his posse encircle them and begin
assaulting Mr Lee. Despite stabbing a number of them, they are simply
outnumbered and he gets injected with a toxic substance, resulting in Dae-Yeol
stabbing him in the back with an axe.
Ji-Soo rushes in to help Mr Lee and Min-Hee, but Ji-Soo is trapped. Worse yet,
they discover that he is the one who sent the texts to his companion.

Extracurricular is destined to really go into darker areas from here on out,

concluding with a violent fight at the end. With Dae-Yeol now knowing who he is
and lots of room for more emotional scenes to come, this Korean drama has so
far exceeded expectations. Min-Hee, Ji-Soo, and Gyuri's dysfunctional triangle
continues, and I expect these two will be compelled to work together to save Ji-
Soo from his doom. Of course, only time will tell, but for now, this latest drama is
wrapping up with another fantastic episode.

Episode 7

Extracurricular episode 7 opens with Min-Hee and Mr Lee hiding in a car close by
, attempting to avoid Dae-Yeol's posse. Min-Hee, out of alternatives, calls
Detective Lee to come and save them. Gyuri knows what's happened when she
gets to the hospital not long after and keeps her distance, still concerned about
Ji-Soo.

Dae-Yeol is getting ready to deal with Ji-Soo at the karaoke bar when Mijung
walks in and asks who Ji-Soo is because she's never met him. The pimp sits
down with Ji-Soo and inquires as to who he is, realizing there's more to uncover.
Ji-Soo soon acknowledges that he is a middleman who serves as protection for
various clients.

Dugi and Dae-Yeol discuss the best approach to deal with Ji-Soo and whether or
not to kill him as a result of this. Ji-Soo then calls Uncle, and with Gyuri in
charge, she informs the guys that she is a member of the Samun Gang. Uncle
permits Ji-Soo to collaborate with these crooks in a cooperative relationship for
the time being after disclosing further details about his whereabouts.

Min-Hee calls Ki-Tae from home and invites him to see her, where she admits to
compensated dating during their relationship. He sighs and wonders why she
informed him, only to discover that he already knew. He pledges to tell everyone
as she walks away.

Ji-Soo and Gyuri argue at home over her outrage about collaborating with these
criminals. When Gyuri explains that all of their clients have left the chatroom, Ji-
Soo knows that they have no alternative but to join forces with them.

Min-Hee sits with Mr Lee in the hospital while he heals. When Ji-Soo comes, he
warns her not to say anything to the officers on the scene. Min-Hee wakes up in
the morning to see Mr Lee awake. While Detective Lee waits outside, Mr Lee
requests his phone, prompting Min-Hee to go outside and search his van for it.

When Min-Hee can't find it, she’s frantic and calls Uncle, who dials Mr Lee's
phone number. Only the Detective has it, and she inquires as to whether he is
Uncle or not. Ji-Soo hangs up and drops the phone, leaving the Detective to
ponder what Min-Hee and Mr Lee have in common. While Gyuri tries to persuade
Ji-Soo that everything will be fine, Detective Lee discovers her notion that this is
a sex trafficking ring.

Gyuri walks away assuredly, after choosing to take on the "psychos"on her own
and the episode concludes there.

As the cops begin to press in on Ji-Soo and Gyuri, the door is left wide open for
the series' last act to unfold. There's a lot of danger for our two protagonists to
navigate, and they're caught between a rock and a hard place. It'll be interesting
to see how they get out of this. Gyuri is determined to stop the thugs, but she has
no idea what is in store for her.

Episode 8

Ji-Soo is still being bullied in Episode 8 of Extracurricular, which goes back a

year prior. They assault him and seize his money, but Mr Lee appears on a bike
and saves him, defeating the bullies and returning to his cardboard box, which
also happens to contain his phone, which bears the Doggo brand on the front.

Back in current times, Gyuri walks off decidedly, while Ji-Soo gathers his taser
and changes phones before entering the hospital to see Mr Lee. On his way out,
he meets Min-Hee, who exits the bathroom and leads him outdoors.

The two sit down and talk about her compensated dating and whether she should
come out and tell the cops the truth or not. Ji-Soo tells her she must lie because
the "one who takes the money" would harm her otherwise.

At the same time, Ki-Tae asks Gyuri about the operation, asking whether she
knows something about Min Hee's pimping and compensated dating. She keeps
her story straight and pretends to be clueless, but she definitely seems worried
as she walks away.

Detective Lee won’t give up on the investigation and requests that two detectives
help her figure out what's happening and keep an eye on Mr Lee. At the same
time, Ki-Tae enlists the help of his henchman to sift through the chat forums and
determine who Min-Hee was collaborating with.
Mr Lee wakes up in the hospital room and informs Ji-Soo that they were
unfortunate. This seems to imply that he recognizes Ji-Soo as Uncle, but instead
we're left with this fairly unclear line of conversation to chew over. Ji-Soo leaves
after receiving a call from Dae-Yeol, who appears perplexed when Dae-Yeol
mentions a meeting with his employer. Gyuri's great plot is revealed, and she
prepares to meet with him, armed with a knife and smart attire.

However, when she gets in the restaurant, Ji-Soo is waiting for her and says that
his boss is unable to attend. Gyuri follows the hint and exits the room, but she
hears Dae-Yeol tell Ji-Soo that he would be working with them full time from now
on. He tells the bewildered student to drop out of school and, recognizing he's in
big danger, collapses on the floor in despair after their meeting.

In the meantime, the two investigators enter Mr Lee's room and begin searching
for clues. But Mr Lee is prepared and dispatches the two officers before slipping
away. However, the lead Detective notices him in disguise and chases him down,
almost missing the man waiting to meet him in the elevator.

Gyuri is followed by a suspecting Dugi, who informs Dae-Yeol that she is the one
who has the money and is bringing it inside the high school. As she leaves, she
pretends to be Uncle, but Dugi and the others are spying the entire time, and
they abduct her, which brings the episode to a close.

The entire Dae-Yeol saga has really stepped up the stakes in this series, with
Gyuri and Ji-Soo both in severe jeopardy and loads of interesting characters
scattered throughout. Along with these teenagers being in over their heads, there
has been a lot of growth among the supporting cast, particularly Min-Hee, who
has had a fantastic arc throughout the first season.

The police search is also heating up, and the episode's conclusion gives a lot of
room for the upcoming episodes. Will Gyuri be able to withstand Dae-Yeol's
wrath? We won't have to wait an entire week to find out, thank goodness!

Episode 9

Dae-Yeol calls Ji-Soo and informs him that he is holding Gyuri captive at the top
of Episode 9 of Extracurricular. Mr Lee and Min-Hee arrive at the same moment
at Jaeik's residence (one of Mr Lee's contacts), who helps him out. Min-Hee
threatens to contact the cops while he recovers, telling him it's a better option
than dying.

In the meantime, Ji-Soo is thrown into Dugi's boot and taken to see Dae-Yeol.
Simultaneously, Dae-Yeol and Munji begin digging into Ji-accounts Soo's and
discover that he and Gyuri are both students. Dugi approaches and unlocks the
trunk, but Ji-Soo is prepared, using the taser to knock him out and steal the car.
Gyuri stabs Dae-Yeol in the stomach and holds Munji at knifepoint while he
drives it into Dae-Yeol’s garage. Gyuri bides her time, slipping away before
things get too tense.

Gyuri and Ji-Soo understand they're in serious trouble as they speed away in
their car and try to devise a strategy. When Ji-Soo and Gyuri are alone, they
finally see each other the same way, but just as they are about to kiss, a siren
wails in the distance, stopping them in their tracks. When Ji-Soo realizes it's an
ambulance, not a police car, he bursts out laughing, a wild, desperate chuckle
that settles into calm contemplation as he wonders what they can do now.

When Min-Hee wakes up the next morning, Mr Lee is gone and she is told to
stay. However, she ignores this and goes into the station to speak with Detective
Lee about the incident, specifically the van with a cartoon character on the side.

During this, Ki-Tae receives a tip regarding Min-Hee's whereabouts (the karaoke
bar) on the chatroom and rushes out with a band of kids on motorcycles. Gyuri
comes at the same moment and hires some girls outside to accompany her as
she prepares to confront the group.

She attempts to hide a phone in Dae-Yeol’s office, but is intercepted by Dae-

Yeol, who pushes her to the ground. Ki-Tae arrives with his group just as Gyuri is
about to be choked out entirely and runs inside, helping her escape.

The struggle continues as Dae-Yeol pursues Gyuri. Despite the fact that Ji-Soo
arrives to assist, he is captured as well. Mr Lee, a battered and wounded wreck,
rescues the day. With brass knuckles, he fights his way through the
passageways, saving the two from Dae-Yeol's fury.

He goes out of view after telling Ji-Soo that he hopes they never meet again. Ji-
Soo and Gyuri exit the building, shocked, while Mr Lee and Dae-Yeol climb to the
roof. Mr Lee gets the upper hand and kills Dae-Yeol after the pimp stabs him in
the stomach and beats him down.

Outside, Detective Lee comes to the karaoke bar after following the van's
registration address, and when she discovers the altercation inside, she asks for
backup. They arrive at the site and begin handcuffing the various teenagers,
while Detective Lee goes to the roof and witnesses firsthand the damage,
including Mr Lee appearing to be dead and Dae-Yeol laying in a pool of his own
blood
Extracurricular's penultimate episode features a fantastic fight scenario in the
hallway, and this crescendo of drama encompasses some of the season's major
storylines and does a fantastic job of putting them into action. Mr Lee's
atonement aspect and the manner in which he saves Gyuri and Ji-Soo here is a
nice touch, while Ki-Tae's arrival with his gang to exact vengeance on Min-Hee's
behalf is the catalyst for a lot of the drama that follows. Seeing Detective Lee
continuing her investigation provides a new layer of peril for our heroes to deal
with, and given how this one ended, there's plenty of room for a dramatic
conclusion.

Episode 10

Mr Lee says goodbye to Min-Hee while she is sleeping as we begin the season 1
finale of Extracurricular. He informs his friend they should have supper later that
day.

We return to the present day, where Detective Lee displays Mr Lee's photos to
Ki-Tae and his crew in an attempt to determine if he is the operation's boss.
While Munji is being interrogated by the investigators about her ties to Dae-Yeol,
she remains calm and composed. Instead, Detective Lee redirects her attention
to Min-Hee, who sobs as she learns of Mr Lee's and Uncle's deaths, recognizing
that the operation has now ended.

Ji-Soo and Gyuri talk about their next course of action, but the latter chooses to
blame Dae-Yeol, referring to him as Uncle. Ji-Soo encourages her to return
home, but she ultimately acknowledges she doesn't want to, especially
considering her parents' behavior. When the truth about Min-Hee is revealed at
school, the other girls shun her. However, Ji-Soo pursues her and discovers that
Mr. Lee has died.

Gyuri blackmails her parents with the audio footage of Taerim, pleading with
them to transfer monies to avoid a problem with Mr Choi's customer. They also
transfer the money, allowing her to purchase a one-way ticket to Sydney. She
runs into Ji-Soo at the docks and asks if he'd like to accompany her since there's
nothing left for him in Korea.

In the meantime , Detective Lee chooses to pursue the matter, feeling that Mr
Lee isn't the one at the top and that the karaoke bar riot is a little too nicely timed
to coincide with the roof brawl.

Ji-Soo glances over the mounds of cash in Mr Cho's office and marvels at the
notes, but Mr. Cho enters, forcing him to leave. Luckily, too, because when
Detective Lee arrives at the school, the tracker for Aerung (the decoy dog chip
we saw in the suitcase a few episodes ago) begins blinking. She discovers where
the money is held and suspects Mr Cho of being the mastermind behind it all. Ji-
Soo storms out of the room and into the office, where the money has vanished.

Ki-Tae approaches Min-Hee about her Banana Club involvement and shows her
the hat. Only, she senses Ji-Soo is involved and remains silent. Instead, Ki-Tae
goes over to the club and speaks with Mijung.

Min-Hee approaches Ji-Soo outdoors and inquires about his involvement with the
Banana Club and the reason for his hat. Ji-Soo apologizes for everything,
dropping to his knees, and she understands he's Uncle. She walks away, fists
clenched, enraged, and tells him she can't talk to him right now. Min-Hee reveals
that she has preserved an audio log of his confession out of earshot.

Ji-Soo knows she's surveilled and confronts her on the stairwell, eventually
throwing her down. He grabs her phone and runs away while she bleeds out.

Mr Cho and the Detective discuss the money put away in the Counselling Office
at the station. He assures her that it is not the children, but Detective Lee is
skeptical, throwing doubt on the social study club.

Ki-Tae goes to Ji- Soo's residence and confronts him about selling Min-Hee and
the whole Uncle mess. Min-Hee's phone blinks at his house when he calls her
number. When Ki-Tae understands what has transpired, the two struggle, with
Ki-Tae grabbing a pair of scissors and repeatedly stabbing him.

Gyuri comes just in time, smashing a pot over Ki-Tae's head. She snatches a
bloodied Ji-Soo and stumbles out of the apartment holding him. Meanwhile, Mr
Cho notices Min-Hee is bleeding and rushes inside the ambulance to accompany
her to the hospital.

Detective Lee follows the trail of blood out of Ji-Soo's apartment and down the
stairs, where Gyuri and Ji-Soo are seated together as the episode nears an end.
But they aren't there, and they appear to have run off before the detective
arrives. The episode's ending scenes feature a hermit crab in its shell and the
gorgeous metropolis of Seoul in the morning light. The screen fades after
someone pours some water into its bowl.

Have Gyuri and Ji-Soo survived? Has Min-Hee made it through her ordeal? What
exactly occurred to Ki-Tae? There are a lot of unanswered questions in this one,
and there's plenty of room for a second season to continue from here. Despite
the cliffhanger ending, Min-Hee's discovery of Ji-Soo is a very dramatic scene,
capped off by him knocking her down the steps.

Kim Dong-Hee and Park Joo’s Hyun's outstanding performances have propelled
the majority of the series ahead, but Jung Da- Bin's performance as Min-Hee
deserves special mention. Her honest and heartfelt portrayal of this disturbed
young girl in over her head is flawless, and her character regrettably meets an
untimely end.

Since the hermit crab represents communication and relationships, its inclusion
in the season has been a clever one, with plenty of scenes showing it being
trapped inside a cage or being in danger when it's outside. The closing scene, in
which it is given water and shelter, seems to imply that Ji-Soo and Gyuri have
found a second chance and salvation wherever they are, but this is all
speculation.

For the time being, the series concludes with a powerful but ultimately agonizing
climax, leaving us to wonder what happened to our protagonists. Let's hope we
don't have to wait too long to see whether this one is renewed!
