0309 MAINTENANCE STRATEGY

Target group:
Personnel planning, supervising, performing, inspecting or analysing the results of maintenance
services. The course is also recommended for accounting staff, cost controllers, data personnel
and others working with technical personnel responsible for maintenance of offshore
installations.
Learning objectives:
After completing the course students should be able to describe a financially based
maintenance plan with choice of personnel, material administration and management of a
maintenance project. Students should be able to prepare the work in compliance with current
regulations and standards, and ensure that the requirements for safety and working
environment measures have been applied in the best possible manner.
Qualifications:
This web based course is in accordance with the guidelines from The Norwegian Oil Industry
Association and covers the official Norwegian syllabus for Technical College, Petroleum
Technology Faculty. The course corresponds to 75 hours of normal tuition in this subject.

Introduction courses or relevant professional background.

Maintenance associations and assumptions for planning of maintenance:
Definition of maintenance administration acceptance limits and functional failures
Reliability functional failure and fault frequency data, reliability data bases
Examples of maintenance measures for electronic and mechanical equipment
Relationship between maintenance and production
Introduction of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE)
Operational reliability, maintenance adjustment and maintainability
Redundancy different types, importance for operational reliability and calculation
methods
Motivation for maintenance, technical reliability, HSE and authority requirements
Risk analysis flow charts, risk hierarchy and risk reducing measures.
Project engineering of maintenance: product quality, quality control and cost benefit
