Love Can Be Happy but Difficult

Have you ever been in love but there were many obstacles that got in the way of it. In

Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare the reader is shown that the main characters get into many

situations because of their love. This story tells the love that Romeo and Juliet have for each

other. The story tells many obstacles that Romeo and Juliet go through to love each other. In the

myth Pyramus and Thisbe by Ovid the author shows the readers that because of the love the

main characters have they are put in a difficult position. The text shows that their love for each

other is strong. It describes their love that it cant be prevented and its like a flame. Love can be

joyful painful and has conflict in it. Love is found in literature when joy pain and conflict

happen.

One part of love is Joy. Joy is a happy type of feeling as it is shown in Romeo and Juliet

and Pyramus and Thisbe. Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe are 2 similar stories of 2

lovers who share both their love together are forbidden to get married. In the myth Pyramus and

Thisbe the text states If you searched all the East, youd find no girl with greater charm than Commented [1]: need a lead-in

Thisbe; and no boy in Babylon was handsomer than Pyramus (Ovid 4-7). This quote from

Pyramus and Thisbe shows Joy because it shows and tells us that they were meant for each other Commented [2]: don't need to capitalize

and would be happy if they get together. This is important because this is a key part of Pyramus

and Thisbe because it shows us what makes them so great. In addition the story Romeo and Juliet

the text states that There stays a husband to make you a wife (Shakespeare II/v/68). This
example explains that they are a perfect match for each other and it shows joy. This is important

because it reveals that they are meant for each other and they are full of joy because of it. Commented [3]: good matters

Readers can come to a conclusion that the part of joy is a key in love.

One other part of love is pain because pain can make love difficult in many ways. In

Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe the texts both show pain. In Romeo and Juliet the text

states Shes dead, deceased, shes dead alack the day (Shakespeare IV/V/236). This shows

pain because they had just found Juliet dead and that makes them feel sad and gives them pain.

This matters because she had died to be with Romeo and that makes it difficult for the family.

Furthermore In Pyramus and Thisbe the text states he had found the blood stained shawl, he

cried (Ovid 77-78). This shows pain because when Pyramus saw the bloody shawl he thought

that Thisbe has died so that made him feel pain and sad. This matters because they wanted to

meet outside and because they wanted to meet each other Pyramus died. Readers can come to a

conclusion that pain is another part of love.

Another part of love is conflict because there are many conflicts that happen in love. In

Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisbe there were many conflicts that happened because of

love. In Romeo and Juliet the text states Alive in triumph and Mercutio slain?(Shakespeare

III/i/115). This shows conflict because of Romeos best friend getting killed Romeo avenged

Mercutio and killed Tybalt his cousin in law because he married Juliet. This shows conflict

because of Romeo having to kill Tybalt. This matters because Romeo killed someone who is part

of family to him. Furthermore in Pyramus and Thisbe the text states Dear boy you died by your

own hand your love has killed you(Ovid 125-130). This shows conflict because Pyramus has

died because of what they both did by trying to meet each other. This matters because of the love
they both had the love was the cause of both of Pyramus and Thisbes death. Readers can come

to a conclusion that conflict is also a part in love.

The 3 parts that make up love are joy, pain, and conflict. The reasons why the 3 parts are

part of love is because they all had a key part on why love can be a happy feeling but be difficult

at the same time. A theme that were shown were that love doesnt work out the way you want it

to be. This is a theme because in both stories love didnt turn out the outcome they wouldve

wanted. It makes literature interesting because it makes stories more entertaining and interesting.
