On this day in 1923, the famous Montenegrin rebel Todor Dulovi was

killed. Aggressor authorities killed him at the age of 28, and just how much
he had been attached to Montenegro is shown by the fact that he bravely
fought for its freedom till death, even though the aggressors had killed his
two brothers and raped his sixteen-year-old sister because of Todors
rebellion. Todor was not only a symbol of the heroic struggle for higher
ideals, but also a man respected for his humanity and dignity. In his book,
Milovan ilas testifies how Dulovi was among the most popular figures of
the region, because of virtues such as honesty, honor and benevolence.

"Todor was distinguished among all other rebels not so much by his
courage, although courage he had to spare, as by his intelligence, and above
all by his sense of honor. For instance, he would often be starving for days,
but he would not take as much as a piece of bread from anyone unless they
would give it to him of their own will.

"He had his own mind, bolder and wiser than others, and still was more
honest than anyone else. That is why he had been chosen to lead the rebels
and recognized among the most prominent dissidents in Montenegro.

"Bullet-riddled, Todor was still alive, although he was not fully aware. They
went on shooting at him, and stabbing him with bayonets. But he they say
simply would not die. He was butchered there was not much left to
bury.
