INSTALLATION 4.1 Unpacking This unit has been thoroughly inspected and carefully packed at the factory to prevent damage during shipment. When unpacking, exercise due care not to subject the instrument to mechanical shock. After unpacking, visually check the instrument exterior for damage. 4-2 Installation site - This unit should be installed in an area which meets the following conditions: (1) The ambient temperature is -10 to 60v. 7 (2) Low relative humidity (Max. 85%) and no exposure to moisture. (3) No corrosive gases (Such as NHs, S0e, Céz, etc.) (4) No excessive vibration. (5) Provide ample space for maintenance/inspection. ZNCAUTION (1) The float shall be kept free from metallic substances and any other foreign matters in the liquid. Failure to do this may cause malfunction. (2) The FR should be located away from strong magnetic fields such as those produced by motors or solenoid valves. Failure to do this may cause malfunction. The separation distance depends on the capacity of motors or solenoid valves. Check the adequate distance in the field. If ycu use a metallic shield, the FR shall be separated at least 50: or mere. 4.3 Installation method Install the FR at the position where the liquid level variations Reed type level sensor will actually make contact with it. ‘ery avn The FR switch mounting method Mounting socket fe Stand off pipe varies depending on the connections Tank —<— you specified. For plug mounted type, thread the Level electrode inlet such that FR switches q q can be properly installed. F : 1 : ‘or flange mounted type, instal eee ae a clad flange. See Fig. 2 NOTE the following points: (1) If there is surface wave motion, Incorrect, Correct use a time-delay relay to dampen the switch action. Otherwise we recommend Inflow the irstallation of a stilling tube. ZSCAUTION (1) Reed switches are not designed for the direct starting of pumps, valves and alarms. They are susceptible to damage from electric surges. DO SOT EXCEED THE CONTACT RATINGS. Contact should be wired to relays or similar devices. Typicel examples are shown below. azae soy Diege:toov 1A Bes (2) If the cable length between the FR and load is too long.such as SOM or more nomentary surge current may be produced by stray capacity. Consequently the reed switch is broken. To suppress the surge, place a in series with the load for each reed switch near by the FR. 0.5-5mH coil 5.2 Model RE7OOO relay unit We recommend the use of our relay unit model RE7000. It is single level (alarm) and/or dual level (empty/fill control) relay. ‘The latching (holding relay) feature allows pumps, valves and other devices to be turned on at one level and off at another. It also contribute to safety since it allows lower voltage and smaller currents to be used with FR. (2) Bring cables into housing. JSF 26 cable gland See Fig. 6 Fig 6 (aside dianeter (3) Connect cables to the terminals. NOTE the following points: + Install solderless lugs fitted to M3 Screw to the end of lead wires and the inner conductor. + The cable entry must be properly fitted to preserve the protection category 1P43 or IP55 and to protect the sensor from rain, splashing water, etc. (4) Make sure that there are no miswirings. (5) Re-install and tighten the housing cover to preserve the protection category 1P43 or IPSS. 6. TECHNICAL NOTES 1, Actuation levels are assumed with water (SG=1.0). If your liquid has a different specific gravity, please specify this when you order. 2. Maximun allowable impact is 10G. Shocks greater than 10G may damage the switch. The reed switch's enclosure is made from glass. If the FR is dropped to the hard floor from more than 30cm, the reed switch may be damaged. 3. The float travel stop settings are based on how the magnetic field influences the reed switches. When you move the float travel stop, check switch action for float overrun. 7. INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE Periodic inspection are necessary means to keep your FR switches in good working order. Please pay attention to the following. (1) Keep sensor clean. + NBVER leave the housing cover off. It become damaged or misplaced, order a replacement immediately. a + If sediment or other foreign matters are entrapped between float and stem, detecting errors may be caused. Keep cleanifloat and stem. (2) Inspect switches and terminals. + After removing the housing cover, check switches actuation. + The float travel-stop settings are based on how the magnetic field influences the reed switch. If float overrun, adjust and check the float travel-stop. + The life expectancy of reed switches are over 10* operations. They are susceptible to damage from electric surges and mechanical shocks. If these conditions exist, order replacements immediately. + If the float is filled with water or collapsed, it must be replaced immediately. Do not attempt to repair a float. + Vibration may sometimes cause terminal screws to work loose. Checs all terminals to be certain that screws are tight. 8. LEVEL ADJUSTMENT Standard FR model allows adjustment of actuation levels to meet changing operating conditions. Use the following procedure to make adjustments: (1) Loosen the terminal plate mounting screws. (Loosen the terminal plate as Fig. 7 and pull. It becomes off.)
