Friendship Bracelet Instructions
Level: Advanced
BEFORE YOU BEGIN know how to make a Right Hand Double Knot and a Left Hand Double Knot. You will also
need to know how to make a Single Right Single Left Hand Knot & a Single Left Single Right Hand Knot. You can
see these instructions at myfbm.com.
1. Pick 3 different colors. (The example uses dark green, red &
white). You will need 2 strands of dark green, 1 strand of red
& 2 strands of white.
2. Align string, fold in half, and tie knot inch from fold forming
a loop.
3. Attach your inch loop to MYFBM under the butterfly clip.
4. Separate strings by placing one string per slot. Note: Use the
same color in slots 1 & 10 (red), slots 2, 3, 8 & 9 (white) &
slots 4, 5, 6 & 7 (green). This will align the colors of your
bracelet pattern.
5. To begin, take string #1 (red) and make a single right single
left hand knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (red) will
stay in slot 1.
6. Take string #3 (white) and make a single right single left hand
knot with string #4 (green). String #3 (white) will stay in slot
3.
7. Take string #5 (green) and make a right hand double knot with
string #6 (green). String #5 (green) will now be in slot 6.
8. Take string #8 (white) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #7 (green). String #8 (white) will stay in slot
8.
9. Take string #10 (red) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #9 (white). String #10 (red) will stay in slot
10.
10. Take string #2 (white) and make a right hand double knot
with string #3 (white). String #2 (white) will now be in slot
3.
11. Take string #5 (green) and make a left hand double knot with
string #4 (green). String #5 (green) will now be in slot 4.
12. Take string #6 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #7 (green). String #6 (green) will now be in slot
7.
13. Take string #9 (white) and make a left hand double knot with
string #8 (white). String #9 (white) will now be in slot 8.
14. Take string #1 (red) and make a single right single left hand
knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (red) will stay in slot 1.
15. Take string #4 (green) and make a single left single right
hand knot with string #3 (white). String #4 (green) will
stay in slot 4.
16. Take string #5 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #6 (green). String #5 (green) will now be in
slot 6.
17. Take string #7 (green) and make a single right single left
hand knot with string #8 (white). String #7 (green) will
stay in slot 7.
18. Take string #10 (red) and make a single left single right
knot with string #9 (white). String #10 (red) will stay in
slot 10.
19. Take string #2 (white) and make a right hand double knot
with string #3 (white). String #2 (white) will now be in
slot 3.
20. Take string #4 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #5 (green). String #4 (green) will now be in
slot 5.
21. Take string #7 (green) and make a left hand double knot
with string #6 (green). String #7 (green) will now be in
slot 6.
22. Take string #9 (white) and make a left hand double knot
with string #8 (white). String #9 (white) will now be in
slot 8.
23. Take string #1 (red) and make a single right single left
hand knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (red) will stay
in slot 1.
24. Take string #4 (green) and make a left hand double knot
with string #3 (white). String #4 (green) will now be in
slot 3.
25. Take string #5 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #6 (green). String #5 (green) will now be in
slot 6.
26. Take string #7 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #8 (white). String #7 (green) will now be in
slot 8.

27. Take string #10 (red) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #9 (white). String #10 (red) will stay in slot
10.
28. Take string #3 (green) and make a single left single right
hand knot with string #2 (white). String #3 (green) will stay
in slot 3.
29. Take string #5 (green) and make a single left single right knot
with string #4 (white). String #5 (green) will stay in slot 5.
30. Take string #6 (green) and make a single right single left
hand knot string #7 (white). String #6 (green) will stay in
slot 6.
31. Take string #8 (green) and make a single right single left
hand knot with string #9 (white). String #8 (green) will stay
in slot 8.
32. Take string #1 (red) and make a single right single left hand
knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (red) will stay in slot 1.
33. Take string #3 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #4 (white). String #3 (green) will now be in slot
4.
34. Take string #5 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #6 (green). String #5 (green) will now be in slot
6.
35. Take string #8 (green) and make a left hand double knot with
string #7 (white). String #8 (green) will now be in slot 7.
36. Take string #10 (red) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #9 (white). String #10 (red) will stay in slot
10.
37. Take string #2 (white) and make a right hand double knot
with string #3 (white). String #2 (white) will now be in slot
3.
38. Take string #4 (green) and make a right hand double knot
with string #5 (green). String #4 (green) will now be in slot
5.
39. Take string #7 (green) and make a left hand double knot with
string #6 (green). String #7 (green) will now be in slot 6.
40. Take string #9 (white) and make a left hand double knot with
string #8 (white). String #9 (white) will now be in slot 8.
41. Take string #1 (red) and make a single right single left hand
knot with string #2 (white). String #1 (red) will stay in slot 1.
42. Take string #3 (white) and make a right hand double knot
with string #4 (green). String #3 (white) will now be in slot
4.
43. Take string #4 (white) and make a single right single left
hand knot with string #5 (green). String #4 (white) will stay
in slot 4.
44. Take string #8 (white) and make a left hand double knot with
string #7 (green). String #8 (white) will now be in slot 7.
45. Take string #7 (white) and make a single left single right
hand knot with string #6 (green). String #7 (white) will stay
in slot 7.
46. Take string #10 (red) and make a single left single right hand
knot with string #9 (white). String #10 (red) will stay in slot
10.
47. Take string #4 (white) and make 2 left hand double knots.
One each, on string #3 (green) & string #2 (white). String #4
(white) will now be in slot 2.
48. Take string #7 (white) and make 2 right hand double knots.
One each, on string #8 (green) & string #9 (white). String #7
(white) will now be in slot 9.
49. At this point you have completed one rotation of the pattern.
Repeat steps 5-48 to continue the pattern until your bracelet
is long enough to fit your wrist.
50. Once you bracelet is long enough to fit your wrist take three
strings from the slots 1 - 3 in your left hand and three strings
from slots 8 - 10 in your right hand and braid with the
remaining 4 center strings.
51. Take the braided strings and tie two basic knots at the end of
your friendship bracelet.
52. Unclip your friendship bracelet from the butterfly clip and cut
off the excess braided section. Your friendship bracelet is
ready to wear or share!
