The legend is that a gahasta approached the crya and complained that he, the gahasta, could not
understand or experience the "tmasvarpa", try as he might. The conversation which ensued
between the crya and the gahasta, is reportedly abridged in this loka.

crya - ki jyotistava? (What is the light [which makes you see]?)


gahasta - bhnumn ahani me (The sun gives light for me during the day.)
crya - rtrau? (What about night?)
gahasta - pradptmaka (The light or something like that.)
crya - sydeva, ravi dpadaranavidhau ki jyotirkhyhi me? (So be it, tell me with what do you
see the sun, light, etc.?)
gahasta - caku (Eyes)
crya - tasya nimlandi samaye ki? (When the eyes are closed with what [do you see]?)
gahasta - dh (Intellect)
crya - dhiyo darane ki (With what do you see [recognize] your intellect?
gahasta - tatrha (I am there.)
crya - ato bhavn paramaka jyoti (So, you are the most excellent [source of] light.)
gahasta - tadasmi prabho (Prabho! I am THAT.)
