Abstract
A research program was conducted to study the effects of squeeze pressure (70, 100 and 140
MPa) and casting temperature(800 and 750C) and heat treatment T6 on the hardness,
density, porosity and microstructure of wrough Al2024 alloy. For T6 heat treatment castings
were solution treated at 490C and then were aged at 190C about 16 hours. The results
indicated that with increase the pressure and decreased the casting temrature decreased both
the volume fraction porosity and micropore size as well as the size of the dendrites. Also
density increased with increase the applied pressure.
