Hi,
I'm always glad to support!!!
I would probably phone the school as I'm not sure how reliable the email option would
be. Being clear about what it is in particular you would like for Jenny to discuss or
demonstrate would be important during the phone call. Her father may also be a good
connection as he has a very interesting story to tell and Jenny has painted him a picture
about that. I don't know if he would want to share as it could be personal but oh soooo
powerful. Let me know if you want to catch up with Jenny and I can go along with you.

Hi Ali,
The only place I know of in town where you would be able to view a small collection of some
local Aboriginal art is at PLACC, Port Lincoln Aboriginal Community Council. Heather Cox is
the manager of the organisation and has on occasion led people through the art display. If
you would like to phone PLACC to speak to Heather the number is 8682 6677 or her email
address is:
Personally, I have found phoning Heather to be the more successful way of catching her. I
would recommend Susie as a contact to work with your students on creating an art piece
and I can support in contacting her if you desire. We also have Jenny Pickett, the ACEO at
the Junior Primary School who could also do that job. This might be a good way to connect
with the JP?! Let me know your thoughts and we can go from there.

Hi Vicki
This term our class has been looking at some local information to learn about the history
and culture of Aboriginal people in Port Lincoln. I would like them to represent their
knowledge in an artwork of some sort. First I would like them to be exposed to some
Aboriginal art work and artists. I wanted to consult you about this to see if you could help
me with any connections with the community. Are there any local artists or somewhere I
could access some local Aboriginal art work? I would like to keep it as local as possible so it
is relevant to the students. I also want to make sure that the artworks that students create
are not culturally insensitive to the Barngala and Nauo people.
I remember earlier in the year you mentioned a connection with Susie Betts. Do you think it
would still be a possibility to have her visit?
Thanks,
Ali Doolette
