Teleport Tragedy

 FADE IN:
EXT. WOODS - DAY
A desperate guy, PETER, is strolling around in the woods.
He clearly regrets a previous event and is trying to think
of a solution.
PETER (V.O.)
I made a mistake and now I have
to pay for it. Every day, I wish
I could go back somehow. How
could I have known that it would
lead to this?
He sits down at a bench.

PETER (V.O.)
I couldnt...Its eating me up
from the inside. When Im in the
shower, when Im at work, when
Im with my family, all I can
think about is how much I screwed
up. Nothing is ever going to be
the same. But I cant stop
thinking that things could have
ended drastically different... I
have to make it right.

He stands up and starts walking away from the bench.

FADE IN:
INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY

This supposed to be a FLASHBACK from Peters story. Two

guys, MARK and STEVEN, are sitting at a TABLE in front of
each other. They look INTENSE.
MARK
(self assured)
Do you really think you got me?
You know you keep making the same
mistake over and over again,
right?

STEVEN
(focused)
Oh, I know it. This time, you got
nowhere to go now. You cant
control me, you know. So you
better stop pretending you do.
MARK
Oh but I do control you. In fact,
its quite funny to see you fail
whenever you think you got me.
 2.

STEVEN
Not this time.
MARK
Well, then I guess its time we
face the truth...
STEVEN
You go first!

MARK
As you wish.
It now becomes clear they were playing POKER. Its time
for a SHOWDOWN and theres a lot of chips at stake. Mark
confidently throws his cards open on the table. Steven
slowly realises hes LOST and then FREAKS OUT.
STEVEN
No... No!!
Steven also throws his cards furiously on the table. He
then covers his face in his hands.
MARK
(laughs)
I told you!

STEVEN
Argh, I hate you! Im never
playing you again!
MARK
(chuckles, leans back)
Thats what you said last time,
remember? By the way, wheres
Peter?
STEVEN
(calmed down, but
frustrated)
Hes still working on that stupid
potion of his.
MARK
(chuckles, surprised)
What? That teleportation potion?
Has he still not given that up?
That guy...

CUT TO:
 3.

EXT. WOODS - DAY

Peter is still walking around.

PETER (V.O.)
I will make it right. Its not
much, its not perfect, but is
temporary. I mean, I cant do
nothing. That would make this
worse, even worse than it already
is, which is quite hard to
imagine to be honest...
He sees his CAR.
PETER (V.O.)
And I have to do it now.
He starts walking towards his car.
INT. HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS

Mark KNOCKS on the DOOR.

MARK
Hey Heisenberg, hows that potion
of yours coming along!?

They both chuckle.

PETER (O.S.)
Almost there!

Mark en Steven look surprised at each other and then go

through the door.
INT. LAB ROOM - CONTINUOUS
The lab room looks like a little CHEMISTRY LAB filled with
some amateuristic lab equipment, e.g. plastic cut off
bottles instead of glass beakers. Peter is slowly adding
some FLUID to an already filled beaker.
PETER
If I could just add a little...

MARK
What the heck are you doing, man?
PETER
(raises hand to quiet down
Mark)
I just need a few more minu-
He starts stirring in the beaker.
 4.

STEVEN
Dude, maybe you should come
outside sometimes?

Peter stops stirring and just looks at his POTION.

PETER
Its done.
Peter holds the potion up in his hand.

PETER
(excited, but calm)
Its done. It should work. It
should be perfect!

MARK
(doesnt believe it could
work)
Yea, sure...
PETER
Well know soon enough!
Stands up and starts walking to the door.
MARK
Blow us away, Gandalf!
Mark walks out of the door.
STEVEN
(mocking)
Youre such a nerd, Peter.
PETER
(overly excited)
I know!!

Peter and Steven also leave the room.

CUT TO:
EXT. WOODS - DAY

Peter is approaching his car.

PETER (V.O.)
I mean, who would have done
differently? Theres no way I
could have known... I should have
listened. I should have stopped
when I had the chance...
He stops right next to his car.
 5.

PETER (V.O.)
No, theres no way back now.
He opens the TRUNK of his car and takes out a big SHOVEL.
He stands there with the shovel in his hand.
PETER (V.O.)
Its not the best way, but its
the only way.

He closes the trunk and walks away with the shovel. He

walks until he finds a good spot to start DIGGING. He
sighs and then puts the shovel in the ground to start
digging.
EXT. BACKYARD - DAY

The three of them arrive outside, very excited.

MARK
Ok Peter, time to shine, show us
what it can do!

PETER
Who who who, easy there. I have
no idea how this works. I havent
really done this a lot, you know.

MARK
You could maybe start by drinking
the potion?
STEVEN
What if it doesnt work?
PETER
I have no idea actually, I guess
well find.

Peter DRINKS his POTION in full excitement. He then

remains still while he waits for something to happen.
STEVEN
And...?

Peter looks around and then decides to try something...

PETER
I dont know. I guess I just try
to t-

Suddenly he DISAPPEARS and reappears several meters

further than he started. He just TELEPORTED. Everybody is
overwhelmed by surprise.

MARK
How the hell did you do that?!
STEVEN
Holy mother of dragons...
PETER
I...I dont know...
MARK
Do it again!
PETER
But I dont know how I di-
Suddenly Peter teleports again.

STEVEN
Whoa!
MARK
Nice!

PETER
I think I got it!
He teleports one more time.

MARK
Now do something fancy!
PETER
Hmm, how about this?

Peter prepares himself to take a sprint.

STEVEN
Take it easy, Peter!

PETER
I know what Im doing!
MARK
Do you?

Peter then takes a sprint and JUMPS high into the air. He
then teleports, with the same velocity, some meters
further.
MARK + STEVEN
Woaw!

PETER
What about that, huh?!
 7.

MARK
Now, tht was cool.
STEVEN
Yes it was.
MARK
Ok, what should we do next?
PETER
I think I have an idea...
Peter then starts running back inside. The other two stand
there wondering.
CUT TO:

EXT. WOODS - DAY

It appears Peter has been digging for a while. There is
already a pretty deep hole in the ground. Hes very
sweaty, dirty and tired of digging. Hes still digging,
though not very fast.
PETER (V.O.)
Its not like I want to do this.
I just dont see any other way
out.

He stops digging and puts the shovel away in the ground.

PETER (V.O.)
Time to get it over with.

CUT TO:
EXT. BACKYARD - DAY
Mark en Steven are still waiting on Peter to come back.

STEVEN
I just hope he doesnt do
anything stupid, you know?
Suddenly, Peter appears on top of the roof.

PETER
(yells)
Hey guys! Up here!
MARK
Whoa Peter, take it easy man!
PETER
No trust me! I got this!
 8.

STEVEN
Peter! Look out!
Peter jumps off the roof. Just before he would normally
hit the ground, he teleports just above the ground and
therefore lands softly.
STEVEN
Whoa!

MARK
Dude, Peter, youre an artist!
PETER
I think Im starting to get a
hang of it, guys!

MARK
It seems like you do.
STEVEN
Maybe this is a good time to stop
before anything bad happens...
PETER
No, theres one more thing I have
to try!

STEVEN
Peter, maybe you should really
consider sto-
PETER
Dude, stop being such a pussy! I
got this, all right? And besides,
this is way easier than what Ive
already done today.
MARK
Then what are you go-
PETER
(little smile)
Follow me.

MARK
Ok then...
Mark and Steven follow Peter back inside.
CUT TO:
 9.

EXT. WOODS - DAY

Peter is in a SQUAT position next to the hole. Hes got a
BAG with him. His condition hasnt improved at all, hes
very STRESSED, DESPERATE and is staring at the hole.
PETER (V.O.)
I cant believe it has come this
far. I mean, it started with
something so innocent, and look
where Im now. I didnt even have
to do it. But I did it anyway.
Now I have to pay the price. I
have to undo my mistake. Theres
no way back now...

CUT TO:
EXT. KITCHEN - DAY
The three of them arrive in the KITCHEN where Peter goes
to the refrigerator to take out a bottle of CHOCOLATE
MILK. He then pours himself a GLASS of chocolate milk.
PETER
(while pouring in the milk;
frustrated because of
previous experiences)
Every time that I have to walk
with my glass of chocolate milk,
I spill it all over the floor.
But not this time! Now I can
teleport. With the glass!

MARK
So youre just going to-
PETER
Yes I am. I just have to try it.
One time.
Steven and Mark dont seem to understand, but they look
approving.
STEVEN
Well, go ahead then.
PETER
Oh I will!
Peter steps forward, ready to teleport. He raises his
glass.
PETER
To chemistry!
 10.

He steps forward and then TELEPORTS a few meters further.

Peter looks happy, but then sees the surprised/concerned
faces of Steven and Mark.

PETER
(confused)
Guys, whats wrong?
MARK
(slowly starts pointing at
his own shirt)
Peter, your, eumh, your shirt is
a bit, eumh...
Peter looks at his SHIRT and sees the big STAIN of
chocolate milk on his shirt. He then SLOWLY realises hes
in big, big trouble. Hes absolutely DEVASTATED.
PETER
Oh no, this cant be happening.
No...no...noooo!! My mother is
going to kill me! My life is
over!
MARK
Im so sorry, man...

STEVEN
If theres anything we can do...
PETER
No, its already too late...

FADE TO:
EXT. WOODS - DAY
Peter is still staring at the hole.

PETER (V.O.)
Its time to put it in the past.
He takes his DIRTY, CREASED SHIRT out of the bag he took
with him. Then, he THROWS the shirt directly INTO THE
HOLE. The last shot is filmed from the hole up and turns
black when the shirt hits the camera in the hole.
