Countable and uncountable nouns
Most nouns are countable, and we use
a/an or a number with them:

A computer.
Two desks.
An apple.
Three umbrellas.
Use a singular verb with singular countable
nouns:

There is a computer on the table.

Use a plural verb with plural countable nouns:

There are three computers in my office.


Some nouns are uncountable. We
dont use a or an with them, but we
often use some / a lot / a little.
Common uncountable nouns
Food Information
Furniture News
Traffic Hair
Music Money
Work Paper
Rain Homework
Uncountable nouns are singular and we
always use a singular verb:

This information is interesting.

Some music is too noisy for me.

That furniture is very old.


Some / any
We use some in positive sentences:

I have got some bananas.

There is some orange juice.


Use any in questions an negative sentences:

Are there any veggie burgers?

Is there any rice?

There aren't any apples.
