Dear friends and missionaries

Thank you for your support in joining the

friends and artists of Little Bloomsbury
Foundation & Pioneer Art Festival to pay
tribute to our pioneers by pulling
handcarts. According to Logan City, this is
the very first time they have handcarts in
the Pioneer Parade!

We are grateful to our sponsor ICON Health

& Fitness for their very fine support. Their
long-term vision is to present a complete
timeline of settlers from the 1800s to the
present day! The Watterson Family will also
join us in the parade. Please say hello and
express your appreciation for them.

STEP 1 (10:45 AM 11:15 AM): We gather

together to draw up a masterplan in
distributing a total of 19 handcarts
between 10:45 AM 11:15 AM at 242 S 100
W, Logan (across the street from the tennis
courts of the Logan Recreation Center or
the west-end parking lot of Beehive Grill.)

STEP 2 (11:20 AM): We need to have made

up our formation of 19 handcarts, have an
opening prayer, and cross the street in a
systematically manner to get in line at
Logan Recreation Center at 300 S 100 W.

STEP 3 (11:30 AM): From the Recreation

Center and under the direction of Logan
City, we will walk three blocks north to 100
W Center Street where the parade will
officially kick off.

WE ARE NO. 5 IN THE PARADE (AFTER FIRE DEPARTMENT): There are STEP 4 (12 PM noon): The parade kicks off
a total of 69 registered participants (or participating groups) in the and heads west for four blocks up to 500 W
parade. Logan City Fire Department will hold the flag and lead the and then turn southward toward Willow
parade with three other entrants including a horse-drawn vintage fire Park where we finish.
engine and other gear that will for sure fascinate our little ones. The
Little Bloomsbury Handcart Procession is No. 5 in the parade. The total distance is a 1.6 mile (16 blocks).

PARKING: We start off in downtown Logan and finish at Willow Park. The designated pick-up area at Willow Park (blue
box in map above) is at about 300 W 650 S, Logan. Please try to arrange transportation in such a way that you do not
have to walk all the way back to the where we started to pick up your vehicle.
LATECOMERS & LATE JOINERS: We dont plan on anyone being late. But in case you do run late, do not panic. We are
the first procession after the Fire Department and should be easy to find with our 19 handcarts. And if you have
friends and associates who wish to join us in pulling the handcart at the last minute, please have them come too!

PIONEER CLOTHING & PROTECTION: Participants may come in simple pioneer-like clothing. Sister missionaries are
encouraged to find whatever in their wardrobe (if any) that comes closest to pioneer-like, e.g. a longer skirt or dress.
Please use sunscreen and try to wear long sleeves and comfortable shoes.

THE EXPERIENCE THAT COUNTS: Lets take time to reflect on the amazing things the pioneers had done, and what
amazing things we too can do and overcome together as a people. We encourage you to jot down your thoughts and
feelings in your journal after the parade and share your choice experiences with others and in the social media.

TREK POLICY ON ELECTRONIC DEVICES: Since this is a solemn occasion for us to pay tribute to our pioneers, we
encourage all to turn off their electronic devices and refrain from taking photos with any kind of device DURING the
parade. There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures and/or videos before and at the end of the parade. (During
the parade, historian, author, and Little Bloomsbury artist Darrin Smith will be taking some photos.)

CANDY: There are usually a lot of candy leftovers or uncollected candies at the end of the parade and most of us are
not throwing candy. But if you really want to do so, Logan City has advised that you aim for the sidewalk. DO NOT throw
candy to anyone who runs onto the road/parade route.

POLICING: The parade route will be monitored by Police. Parade participants who do not adhere to rules, even after
they've been warned, will not be allowed by Logan City to participate in the parade next year.

FREE AGGIE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES with GREAT HARVEST BREAD COOKES AFTER THE PARADE: We invite all to join
us at Little Bloomsbury Pioneer Art Festival at 181 N 200 E, Logan (below Logan Temple and where the teepee is) any
time after the parade for great art and refreshments. We will re-open at 2 PM 9 PM on Monday, July 24.

MAGIC SHOW & STORYTELLING CONCERT AT 6 PM: Handcart pullers of all ages are cordially invited to join us at this
concluding event of the four-day Little Bloomsbury Pioneer Art Festival at 181 N 200 E, Logan for a great get-together
and experience-sharing. All activities are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
LITTLE BLOOMSBURY FOUNDATION: Little Bloomsbury Foundation is an arts-related 501C (3) peace organization. The
mission of our all-volunteer force is to promote peace and hope in an uncertain world through the arts and humanities.
The Foundation organizes three art festivals a year: Spring Art Festival at the last weekend of April, Ice Cream Summer
Art Festival on Fathers Day weekend, and Pioneer Art Festival on Pioneer Day weekend.
The theme of our Spring Art Festival on April 26 28, 2018 is OVERCOMING TOGETHER. The award-eligible deadline is
April 1. Early-bird submissions on or before April 1 will also be eligible to be chosen by the panel as the poster image.
The final deadline is April 13. Artists whose work is accepted will be invited to an exclusive Preview, Award Ceremony &
Reception, sponsored by Utah Division of Arts & Museums and Blue Bird Restaurant. The Preview is scheduled on
Tuesday, April 17 (10 days before the show opens to the public). Utah Poet Laureate Paisley Rekdal will give a
Masterclass in Poetry at the end of the preview. Participants may prepare their artist statements in a poetic form.
The work of Little Bloomsbury Foundation is aimed at strengthening local and visiting populations with creative,
educational, and validating events that are FREE & OPEN TO ALL AGES. We began as a housewarming party 11 years ago
and preserves the same welcoming spirit in the setting of a historic home on 200 E below Logan Temple, where the
teepee is. Art submissions and performance auditions are competitive and open to all. This helps make our events
accessible and inviting to the arts circle and all others in a diverse community who wish to connect but may not find the
usual art gallery or concert hall their comfort zone.
The Foundation is sponsored by Utah Division of Arts & Museums and community-minded organizations including but
not limited to Cache Valley Morning Rotary Club, ICON Health & Fitness, Aggie Creamery, Great Harvest Bread, Square
One Printing, American West Heritage Center, Blue Bird Restaurant, Black Pearl Restaurant, Firehouse Pizza, Cafe Sabor,
Anniversary Inn, Thirteen-Eight Productions, Lees Marketplace, Country Village Antique Mall, Chinese Massage,
Michaels, and Fast Forward High School where our award-winning teepee creator Andy Worrall is the art teacher.
