CHAPTER I
Introduction
1.1 General

New Construction of Ministry Solidarity Social Office Building is a tree-story office buildings
locating at Coicoli-Dili, Timor Leste. The main function of this building to serve the office
activities. The ground and first floor are used as office space. Meanwhile, the second floor is
entirely used for meeting room or multipurpose room

In general, this building uses reinforced concrete frame system. Shear wall in elevator core
only functioned as bearing wall. The outer wall of the building are consisted of masonry walls
and panel of glass. Except the directors rooms, all the work stations are using an open system.

1.2 Design Target

The general objective of the design is to get an effective and efficient structure system for the
distributing of the burden that may occur. Specifically the above objective can be described as
follows:

To get the building element dimensions, such as the columns, beams, plates and shear
wall.
To assess the building performance in receiving service load and planned earthquake
load
To design the building elements to obtain the necessary frame minimum requirements.

1.3 Building Guidelines and Standards used

The regulations or guidelines used in developing the design of this building are:

ACI-318-05, Building Code Requirement for Structural Concrete
SNI 03-1729-2000, Standard Design for Structural Steel
