Emphasis fon sampling techniques and analytical ‘methodologies on the existence and concentration lof substances in the envionment either naturally ‘occuring or from anthropogenic sources. The course also introduces the concept and nature of environmental assessment. A corresponding } laboratory course's also provided to allow students to earn the topics from experiments. This course Includes field trips and off campus lectures/and or | demonstration at laboratories ‘Course Learning Outcomes: At the end ofthe course, the students should be able to select sampling and analytical methodologies appropriate tothe type of pollutant and environmental medium; 2. understand the principles underlying diferent ‘sampling and analytical techniques; 3 appreciate the way in which biological and ecological monitoring can indicate the effects of pollution on ecosystems; 4. carry out procedures to appropriate standards of ‘quality and safety; 5. learn and apply basic environmental assessment procedures, and 6. identify impacts of environmental monitoring 0 ‘our environment.
