Transcripts
Itisveryimportantthatalltranscriptsbesentdirectlytothegraduateprogramtowhichyouareapplying.Iftheyaresent
totheGraduateAdmissionsOffice,thereviewofyourapplicationwillbedelayed.

Applicantsarerequiredtosubmitanofficialcopyoftranscriptsanddegreecertificates(inoriginallanguageaccompaniedbycertified
Englishtranslations)fromeachacademicinstitutionattendedaftersecondaryschool.Theserecordsshouldbesentdirectlyfrom
theRegistrarsOfficeoftheacademicinstitutionsyouhaveattendedtotheacademicdepartmenttowhichyouareapplying.If
thisserviceisnotavailable,applicantsmayalsorequestofficialcopiesandsendthemintheinstitutions'originalsealedandcertified
institutionenvelopes.Officialrecordsareoriginaldocumentsissuedbytheinstitutionwhichbeartheactualsignatureoftheregistrar
ininkandtheoriginalwetinkstamp/sealoftheissuinginstitution.Theinstitutionenvelopemustalsobearthatinstitution's
appropriateauthenticityindicator(originalwetinkstampand/orsignature,etc.)fromtheappropriatedepartmentatthatinstitutionto
considertheprovidedcertifiedtranscriptsanddegreecertificatesprovidedbytheinstitutionasofficial.Notarizeddocumentsarenot
acceptable.CredentialevaluationsbyWES(WorldEducationServices)orsimilarcredentialevaluationservicesarealsonot
acceptable.

AllofficialacademicrecordsmustbeissuedintheoriginallanguageandaccompaniedbyEnglishtranslationspreparedbythe
issuinginstitution.SpeciallypreparedEnglishversionsarenotacceptableinplaceofdocumentsissuedintheoriginallanguage.If
translationsarenotavailablefromtheinstitutionitself,theymaybepreparedbygovernmentorofficialtranslators.Fortranslationsto
beacceptable,theymustbearthestamporsealoftheissuinginstitutionorgovernmentalagencyandtheoriginalsignatureofthe
translator.Theymustbecompleteandexactwordforwordtranslationsoftheoriginaldocuments,notinterpretations.Aphotocopy
oftheoriginallanguagedocuments(transcripts/degreecertificates)usedbythecertifiedtranslatorfortheprovidedtranslationsmust
alsobeincludedwiththeofficialtranslationbythecertifiedtranslator.GradesmustnotbeconvertedtoaUSscale.Records
submittedforreviewmaynotbeborrowed,photocopied,returnedtoyouorsentelsewhere.

LettersofRecommendation
Applicantswillbeabletoentertheirrecommenders'informationdirectlyintotheirelectronicapplication.Recommenderswillbe
notifiedelectronicallyandprovidedinstructionsonhowtosubmitaletteronline.Alllettersofrecommendationmustbereceived
electronicallysotheyareattachedtotheapplicantsfileforreview.

Graduateprogramsrequirethree(3)lettersofrecommendation.Submittingmorethanthreelettersdoesnotimproveyourstanding
asanapplicant.Atleasttwooftheselettersshouldberequestedfromprofessorsinyourmajorsubject.Themostimportantaspect
oflettersofrecommendationisthattheybecompletedbyindividualswhoareinapositiontoanalyzeyouracademicabilityand
potentialforsuccessinarigorousgraduateprogram.Ifyouwishtosubmitaletterfromanemployer,pleasecontactthegraduate
programadvisortodetermineifthiswillbeacceptable.PleasenoteifyouareapplyingtotheM.P.Ac.,M.Fin.,M.B.A.,andFlex
M.B.A.,lettersfromanemployerareacceptable.AlllettersofrecommendationmustbeinEnglish.Ifyouhavebeenenrolledina
previousgraduateprogram,itisrequiredthatoneletterbefromyourresearchorprogramadvisorinthatgraduateprogram.

ApplicantsusingInterfolio'sonlineportfolioservicecanhavetheirlettersuploadedtoouronlineapplicationusingInterfolio's"Web
Delivery"Method.Todoso,pleasefollowthestepbystepinstructionslocatedwithintheReferenceInformationsectionoftheonline
application.

Ifyouwishtowaiveyourrighttoinspectthelettersofrecommendation,marktheappropriateboxbelowthereferenceinformation.
OnlyenrolledUCRstudentsarepermittedtoinspectlettersofrecommendationforwhichtheydidnotwaivetheirrighttoaccess.
Lettersofrecommendationcannotbereleasedtotheapplicantandcannotbeforwardedelsewhere.

TheGraduateRecordExamination
TheGREgeneraltestisrequiredofallapplicantswiththeexceptionsnotedbelow.Someprogramsalsorequireapplicantssubmit
scoresfromtheSubjectTestoftheGRE.Consulttheprogramtowhichyouareapplyingforitsrequirements.Althoughcurrent
scoresarepreferred,somegraduateprogramswillacceptscoresfromteststakenwithinthelastfiveyears.

GREscoresfromtheGeneralTestmustbesubmittedforfellowshipconsideration.Westronglyadviseyoutobeawareofthe
deadlinefortheprogramtowhichyouareapplying.Datesandinformationforcomputerbasedtesting(CBT)maybeobtainedby
contactingtheEducationalTestingService(ETS)attheaddressbelow,bycalling1800GRECALL,orbyconsultingtheGREWeb
site.Fellowshipapplicantsshouldtaketheexamintimetomeettheprogramdeadline.ApplicantsshouldplantotaketheGREprior
Decembertoensurethetimelyreceiptoftheirtestscoresforadmissionconsideration.Keepinmindthatitmaytakeuptofour
weeksfortestscorestoreachusfromETS.
