There has been not a single purpose to speak in jargon, slang and colloquialisms. Jargon,

slang along with colloquialisms has several other various reasons for their being. One feasible

reason has been just the simple language evolution such as words as well as its meanings change

over a period of time by context and also history and therefore slang has been the natural

progression of the language. Other feasible reason for slang has been to throw off intentionally

the other listeners, who have been outside some group of people.

Colloquial is pertaining to general/ordinary/daily or familiar conversation, not formal,

academic and literary. Slang has been the slangy jargon, the colloquialism, the acronym, the

initialism, the vulgarism or the catchphrase. In each and every example, the entry imparts the

message beyond text along with literal meaning. Colloquialism has been the slang term, which

makes their way in mainstream. In other terms, this has been the subculture term, which has now

been in the wider usage. The instance would be word cool. You may also wait till cows come

home along with she will never call!" "We get smashed i.e. drunk on every Friday night." The

general instance of colloquialism has been word "cool''. Cool may also be found in dictionary

along with everybody knows what that means. But, the person should not use "cool" if writing

the article or the paper.
