6 different regions in 2000.

In general, it can be seen that, there was a higher illiteracy rate in women than men globally.
Also, it can be observed that, among the 6 nations, South Asia had the highest illiteracy rate.

To begin, in every nation, there were more illiterate women than men. In South Asia, the
womens illiteracy rate was approximately 57%, compared to men which only accounted for
33%. Moreover, females illiteracy rate in Arab States and Sub-Saharan Africa were 52% and
48% respectively. These figures were roughly two times higher than men in the same regions.
This significant pattern was similar to East Asia/ Oceanias illiteracy rate. On the contrary, there
was only a minimal difference in the percentage of illiteracy, between both sexes in the
Developed countries and Latin America/ Caribbean.

In 2000, the illiteracy rate of the citizens in South Asia, was significant higher than in countries
such as; Developed countries, Latin America/ Caribbean, and East Asia/Oceania. Similarly,
illiteracy in Arab States and Sub Saharan Africa was also prevalent.
