Dear Sir,

CHARGES (ELECTRICITY AND CLUB)

We write with reference to the above subject matter regarding electricity and club
charges at Khosla International Hostel of which we are compelled to pay with virtually no
information to students prior to occupancy. Before occupancy, students are required to
be fully aware of their liability and necessary penalty upon failure to compile.
We get bills only stating the amount and month without any further information on
how much you have consumed. When we go to them for clarification, what they say is
that SCAAP/ITECH pays Rs 1000 for electricity consumption per month per student. We
asked how many units constitute the Rs 1000 but get no reply. Again, we asked if one
consumes less than the Rs 1000 will they return or keep the remaining Rupees so that
when one goes over, what has been saved can be used but no reply as well.
For some of us, we only have electricity bulbs and water heater including heat
blower provided in January 2017. We have no freeze, microwave etc. but are provided
with very high electricity charge per month as can be seen on the attached. For instance,
room S-17 ANH, a bill of Rs 84 was submitted for month of May of which record of
readings for months of April and May are 1802 and 1939 respectively. Of this, it shows
that 137 units was consumed in May, at Rs4.5 per unit gives Rs 616.5 less Rs 1000. We
asked on this reading for May and interestingly readings were taken on the same day but
just matter of hours difference. What they said was that within those hours (4) the
occupant consumed 5units but he was charged for 18.6 units as seen on attached.
They are failing to address our concerns instead levy huge late fees charge which
is making us more confused. We are making genuine complaint but none of them seem
to address our concerns, making the reason for us writing this letter to you so that you
can look into our concerns and find ways of addressing them.
Hope our concerns will be looked into and necessary actions taken to address
them. Below are names of known affected persons:
1. Augustine Amara
2. Saramandie Thollu-Bangura
