Yes, the informative speech did help me understand and apply concepts from the course.
Through the beginning of the class to about half way we discussed and learned public speaking
techniques. The informative speech was my first really speech in which I had the opportunity to
apply techniques that I have never used or heard of.

What did you learn in this assignment that will help you in other classes and/or in your career?
I actually learned a lot from doing this assignment. The point of this speech was to
remain neutral while providing information to an audience. This speech helped me find non-
biases information, and present it in a non-biased way. This will be very important for other
classes and future careers, because in many cases all that is need is the facts and information, not
your personal opinion. I also learned how to create a proper speech outline. Knowing how to
prepare a proper speech outline can help me in the future when I need to present another speech.

How does this assignment connect with what you learned in other Gen Ed courses?
This class is actually one of the first general education courses I have taken. But
connecting it to English 1010, and 2010, it is very important to present information with a neutral
stance. Furthermore, in both my English classes I wrote informative essays, and the research
process using non-biased sources was for the most part the same. Overall, if I connect this with
all the other general education classes I have taken, its important to have good public speaking,
and communication skills.
