Good day, Mr Crocodile! The king is having a feast and he has invited
all the animals in this jungle. I need to count all the animals first so that the king
will know how many are coming. Could you call all the crocodiles and ask
them to line up across the river for me to count? said Sang Kancil.
So, Mr Crocodile called out to the other crocodiles. They all lined up until
across the river. Then, Sang Kancil began to count.
Oh Mr Crocodile, what a fool you are! The king isnt having a feast. I

quickly went to the river to the river and saw a crocodile. There was a big
tree branch on the crocodiles back.
Dear Mr Buffalo, please help me! Take this log off my back, the
crocodile pleaded.
The kind buffalo did as he was told. However, as he lifted the tree
branch and put it on the ground, the crocodile immediately bit his hind leg.
The buffalo was shocked! It was the buffalos turn to cry for help. Sang Kancil,
the mousedeer was walking nearby and heard the cries. When he reached
the riverbank, the buffalo told him what had happened. The mousedeer said
that he did not believe the buffalo could lift the heavy tree branch by
himself. He then asked the crocodile to let go of the buffalos leg so that he
could show how he lifted the tree branch earlier. The crocodile agreed and
let go of the buffalos leg. Then the buffalo put the branch back onto the
crocodiles back.
What are you waiting for? Leave this place immediately! said the
mousedeer.
The crocodile had been tricked by the wise mousedeer.
