AWARDS POLICY

1. Introduction
The Wellington Cricket Clubs awards policy is aimed at setting out the requirements for
eligibility for the clubs awards during a given season pursuant to section 21 of the clubs
constitution. These criteria may be amended throughout any season by the Management
Committee if the Management Committee believes there are circumstances that justify making
such amendments.

2. 1st XI Batting Award:


For an individual to win this award, that individual must have:

played in a minimum of (6) games;


had a minimum of (6) innings; and
scored a minimum of (300) runs.

If no individual meets these requirements in a given season, the person who has scored the
most runs will receive the award, providing they have had a minimum of 6 innings. The
performance of individuals in all finals shall be taken into account for the purpose of this award.

3. 1st XI Bowling Award:


For an individual to win this award, that individual must have:

played in a minimum of (6) games;


bowled a minimum of (80) overs; and
taken a minimum of (20) wickets.

If no individual meets these requirements in a given season, the person who has taken the
most wickets will receive the award, providing they have bowled a minimum of 80 overs. The
performance of individuals in all finals shall be taken into account for the purpose of this award.

4. 1st XI All-Rounder Award:


For an individual to win this award, that individual must have:

played in a minimum of (6) games;


bowled a minimum of (50) overs; and
taken a minimum of (10) wickets.
had a minimum of (6) innings; and
scored a minimum of (150) runs.
A wicket keeper must have taken a minimum of 20 catches, minimum games (6) and
minimum batting requirements (6 innings, 150 runs). A wicket keeper is not subject to
bowling requirements eg. (50 overs &10 wickets) to be eligible.

In addition to the above requirements, the all-rounder award will be calculated on a points
system. Points are allocated as follows:

1 point for every run scored;


5 points for every catch, and run-out to the person who created the run-out; and
10 points for every wicket taken and stumping.

If no individual meets these requirements in a given season, the person with the most points
wins providing they have played a minimum of 6 games. The performance of individuals in all
finals shall be taken into account for the purpose of this award.
5. All other senior teams batting award:
For an individual to win this award, that individual must have:

played in a minimum of (6) games;


had a minimum of (6) innings; and
scored a minimum of (150) runs.

If no individual meets these requirements in a given season, the person who has scored the
most runs will receive the award, providing they have had a minimum of 6 innings. The
performance of individuals in all finals shall be taken into account for the purpose of this award.

6. All other senior teams bowling award:


For an individual to win this award, that individual must have:

played in a minimum of (6) games;


bowled a minimum of (50) overs; and
taken a minimum of (15) wickets.

If no individual meets these requirements in a given season, the person who has taken the
most wickets will receive the award, providing they have bowled a minimum of 50 overs. The
performance of individuals in all finals shall be taken into account for the purpose of this award.

7. All other senior teams all-rounder award:


For an individual to win this award, that individual must have:

played in a minimum of (6) games;


bowled a minimum of (50) overs; and
taken a minimum of (10) wickets.
had a minimum of (6) innings; and
scored a minimum of (150) runs.
A wicket keeper must have taken a minimum of 20 catches, minimum games (6) and
minimum batting requirements (6 innings, 150 runs). A wicket keeper is not subject to

8. Don Powell Memorial (Coachs Award):
This award is at the sole discretion of the clubs nominated Coach for any given season, and if
he or she chooses, in consultation with the clubs Assistant Coach for that given season. This
award may be awarded for, but not limited to, any of the following:

Effort
Sportsmanship
Service to the club and or team
Achievements
Improvement

9. Colin Smiley: Muir award:


This award is given to an individual who has provided outstanding service to the Club in
memory of the late Colin Smiley Muir.
The award is elected by at least three (3) members of the Management Committee and
Brandon Muir. If any (3) members of the Management Committee and Brandon Muir believe a
member of the Management Committee is a worthy recipient of this award, those three (3)
members of the Management Committee must immediately notify the President, who must
then disclose this information, without naming the recipient, to the remainder of the
Management committee as soon as possible.

10. Life Membership:


A member who has given outstanding service to the club may be elected by the Management
Committee as a Life Member.

Any member may nominate a person for consideration for Life Membership. Nominations must
be made to current active Life Members.

An annual meeting of current active life members is to be convened no later than January
each year to assess nominations and make recommendations to the Management Committee
for any new Life Members.

Although there are no set qualifying conditions it is expected that any person nominated for
Life Membership should have served a minimum of ten years membership with the Club
and/or performed outstanding service/services that have benefited the Club and/or its
members.

11. Club Legend


This is the clubs highest individual award. A member who has performed deeds that have
affected the Club to such extent that they have become an integral part of the Clubs history
may be elected by the Management Committee as a Club Legend.

Any member may nominate a person for consideration as a Club Legend.

Nominations must be made to current active Life Members.

An annual meeting of current active Life Members is to be convened no later than January
each year to assess nominations and make recommendations to the Management Committee
for any new Club Legends.
The Management Committee will review any recommendations, and conduct a ballot. A two
thirds majority vote is the minimum requirement for the successful elevation of a member to
Club Legend Status.
