In order to help our PTA work more effectively, we have compartmentalized different volunteer

opportunities and areas that require most of our attention. Please read the descriptions and consider
signing up for one of these teams. Please feel free to join more than one team or committee, or suggest
other teams & committees that are not currently on this list. If you are interested in joining one of these

2017 - 2018 SWE PTA TEAMS

BOOK FAIR TEAM This committee will plan, organize, and oversee all Scholastic Book
Fairs. Volunteers will help set-up, tear down and work at the book
fairs. Coordinator will need to be on-site often (preferably daily) and
October/November be comfortable handling and depositing monies collected as needed.

BOX TOPS TEAM This team will collect and keep track of all BoxTops collected and
submitted by students and then submit them to the company. This is
All Year a great opportunity for someone to work on their own time at home!

COMMUNICATIONS TEAM This team creates the "SCOOP" newsletter using information from all
of the other teams as well as the administration and staff. It would be
helpful if some members of this team were bilingual, in order to
translate the newsletter quickly and efficiently. Experience with
All Year Microsoft Publisher or a similar program is helpful for this role.

COPY & DISTRIBUTION TEAM This team helps make copies of flyers and counts/distributes them to
the appropriate teachers' mail boxes. This team also posts these
All Year flyers on the PTA bulletin board outside the school's main entrance.

FALL FESTIVAL TEAM This team will plan and organize the fall festival, staying within the
given budget. Volunteers will be needed to rent equipment, order
food, order prizes, organize games and giveaways, set up tables and
equipment, clean up after the fall festival, and work the different
August through October stations at the fall festival.

FINANCIAL REVIEW TEAM Are you willing to help conduct reviews of the PTA's financial
management practices and books in June? If so, please volunteer to
help this very necessary committee. Either one CPA or three PTA
June (After the School Year Ends) members are required.

FUN RUN TEAM This team works directly with the Boosterthon organization to ensure
all events are executed smoothly, recruits volunteers to assist on the
day of the Fun Run and at the money collection events -- will need
Fall majority of volunteers present for money collection and counting.

GENERAL VOLUNTEERS Not sure what committee you're interested in? Afraid to of over
commiting yourself? Sign up for this committee and we will contact
you when we need help for specific events or committees. This is an
All Year "as needed" committee. A perfect way to get involved!
 This team helps the SWE PTA explore the many possibilities of
GRANTS AND DONATIONS TEAM raising funds through grants from companies and organizations. This
is a great job for those that need to stay close to home. This team
will also coordinate with local businesses for raffle and prize
All Year donations.

MARQUEE SIGN CHANGE TEAM This team will keep the marquee sign at the school entrance current.
This requires communication with administration to ensure the
All Year appropriate events are listed in a timely manner.

This team coordinates ongoing membership drives to encourage

MEMBERSHIP TEAM participation in the PTA. Will handle all forms, payments, and
entering members into the database. Volunteers will assist in selling
All Year membership at PTA events. This is busiest early in the year.

SPIRIT NIGHT TEAM This team plans, organizes and coordinates all aspects of "Spirit
Night" events at local eateries who will provide a portion of the
proceeds from the evening to SWE PTA. Ideally, we would have one
All Year event in the Fall and one event in the Spring.

SWE MERCHANDISE TEAM This team focuses on selling SWE merchandise. They organize
incoming orders, distribute pre-sale items as necessary, and sell in-
All Year stock SWE merchandise during PTA events.

Liaison will attend parent committee meetings for the Two-Way

Language Immersion Program and act as an advocate of the TWLIP
TWLIP PARENT COMMITTEE PTA
within the Southwest PTA. Will bring concerns of TWLIP parent
LIAISON committee to PTA meetings for review, and for approval of funds if
All Year necessary.

YEARBOOK/PHOTOGRAPHY
This team will handle all activities related to production of the
TEAM
yearbook. This includes organizing and correcting class lists, taking
photos at PTA events and school activities, working in coordination
with Strawbridge Studios, working with staff and students to organize
yearbook artwork, editing the book for final publication, processing
All Year orders, making deposits, and delivering books at end of year.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT TEAM

Two parents are needed for this team to work along with teachers,
administrators and instructional support staff in order to develop a
All Year school improvement plan that targets student performance.

STAFF APPRECIATION TEAM Volunteers will plan creative ways to demonstrate our appreciation
for the hard work and support the SWE staff gives to our children!
All Year Events are typically planed 3 times per school year.

WELCOME WAGON This team organizes the "Say Cheese" and "Kiss and Hug Send Off"
events for Kindergarten families the first week of school. This team
will also handle planning of any events related to welcoming our
August SWE families back to school each year.
