Summer Faith Formation: Join us this summer as we
explore our Catholic Faith. During the next several
weeks, we will be exploring the Catholic Catechism.
Tuesday evenings at 7:15 PM in the lower rectory. We
will be meeting on August 9,18, and 23.
Solemn Procession / Super Raffle Drawing:
We invite you to join us for our second annual
Procession and Rosary in honor of Our Lady on the
Solemnity of the Assumption (August 15) following
the noon Mass. We will close with refreshments in
the auditorium and the drawing of the Super Raffle
at 2:00 PM. Join us as we honor our Blessed
Mother on this special day.
SOUP KITCHEN MINISTRY
On Sunday, August 22nd, we will be serving hot dogs,
baked beans and iced tea at Eva's Kitchen in Paterson.

TRICKY TRAY NEWS - Our annual Tricky Tray will take
place once again this year on Oct. 22, 2010 in OLQP
auditorium. The doors will open at 6:00 pm. Drawings will

STEWARDSHIP: Called to be Trusting: Stewardship a Way
of Life; Psalms 13:5 “But I have trusted in thy steadfast love; my
heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.” “Trust’s the absolute
conviction that God is always with us and we are sustained by His
love. It was trust that enabled the Virgin Mary to say “yes” to
God’s plan for her. She faced her future fearlessly, knowing that
God was with her. What freedom this gives us! What a miracle in
our lives! We, too, can follow our Lord fearlessly, knowing we are
never forsaken.

A good way to examine “where our heart is,” is to spend time reviewing
our appointment calendar and our checkbook. Where am I spending my

60TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS
Mark This Year's Calendar - November 7, 2010
Our 60th Anniversary Gala will begin with Mass at 3 pm
celebrated by Bishop John Flesey, D.D.. Mass will be
followed by a reception from 5 - 9 pm at the Hasbrouck
Heights Hilton. Good food, fun, fellowship, and great
dancing with a fabulous live band.
Ticket orders for the dinner/dance are due by September
15th. There are only 250 tickets available, so be sure to
get your order in soon.
The order forms for the tickets are available in the church
vestibule, in the Rectory office, and can be downloaded
from our website.

PAVING THE WAY -SUPER 50/50
Our Summer raffle is underway. If you have not
bought your tickets yet, you can buy them after
Mass or pick some up at the Rectory office. To date
we have sold 1,954 tickets, and the prize money is
up to $8,205.00. Be sure to send in your returns
right away to get into the drawings. The three
prizes will be 25%, 15%, and 10% of the total
amount brought in (the total in so far is
$16,410.00). The drawings will take place in our
auditorium on August 15th (at around 2 PM) after
our Rosary procession.
The proceeds will go into our parking lot
fund. The cost of our new parking lot is $104,000,
and so far, we have $36,125.63 toward it.
If you prefer not to enter our drawings by buying
tickets, donations to the parking lot fund will be
gladly accepted and deeply appreciated.

 MEMORIALS - Parishioners are now invited to memorialize
a candle burning in front of the Blessed Mother and the
candle over the Tabernacle in memory of a loved one. These

1 Child-$100; 2 children -$175; & 3 or more children -$200.
Registration forms were sent home with the children
before classes ended. We are updating our records so one
form needs to be filled out for each child attending and
returned with the appropriate fee.
A late fee of $25.00 will apply after August 15th.

RESPECT LIFE UPDATES
1. On July 23rd, Gov. Christie vetoed a bill sponsored by pro-
abortion legislators to restore $7.4 million dollars for Planned
Parenthood Centers. Every single one of these centers counsel
and refer women for abortions; 3 of the centers actually perform
the abortions. Up to now, these abortions have been paid with
YOUR tax dollars! The fight still goes on. Pro-abortion legislators
will attempt an override of Christie's veto. Please call the
following NJ legislators and tell them to vote NO to override the
Gov's veto of S2139. Sen. Loretta Weinberg(201-928-0100),
Assem. Gordon Johnson(201-836-4924) and Assem. Valerie
Vainieri Huttle (201-928-0100).
2.Priests for Life has begun a Pro Life Freedom Ride throughout
the USA. Fr. Frank Pavone, Director of Priests for Life, began the
bus ride on July 23rd in Atlanta with a prayer service praying the
civil rights litany using the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His
niece, Dr. Alveda King, is a full time member of the Pastoral
Team of Priests for Life. Based on the freedom rides of the civil
rights movement of the 1960's, this Freedom Ride is for the
unborn babies. They will be visiting major cities throughout the
United States. For information on how you can participate in
various ways, go to Priests for Life.org. The unborn babies are
counting on YOU!
3. Missouri abortion clinics are now compelled by a new law to
offer women ultrasound images and heartbeats of their fetuses
before agreeing to an abortion. Planned Parenthood clinics in
Missouri tried to defeat this law but were unsuccessful.

Dear Parish Family,
You'll be glad you did! It's a fun night!
When do we pray? That is a question asked by people of
all ages, young and old. Does God listen when you need
something? Does God listen when you are in distress?
The truth is, God is always listening and welcomes our
continued prayers.
In Matthew 7:7, Jesus says, “Ask and it will be given to
you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be
opened to you.” My interpretation of this is not that God
will solve all of my problems for me, but instead that He
will empower me to be able to do so. When I pray for
something, I am given the opportunity to obtain it. When I
pray to find something I ask to have that need fulfilled
however He sees fit. Pray, and you shall be answered.
In my full-time job as a counselor I always tell my clients
that you need to put work into a relationship to keep it
alive. A prayer relationship is no different. So take time
out this moment, this day, this week, to pray. Thank you.

Mother Teresa Denied Honor
Empire State Lighting Partners are denying
Mother Teresa the honor of having the towers
shine in blue, white and blue on August 26.
On this day, the U.S. Postal Service will honor
her with a stamp, marking the 100th
anniversary of her birth.

Fr. John Corapi is coming to New Jersey!
On Saturday, October 30, 2010, Fr. Corapi will be
coming to the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ for an
all day Conference and Mass. This event is
sponsored by Domestic Church Media, which
broadcasts EWTN Catholic Radio in NJ. Tickets for the
Fr. Corapi Conference are available through Ticketmaster
(www.ticketmaster.com)and through domesticchurchmedia.org
for group sales! Domestic Church Media currently broadcasts on
WFJS 1260 AM from Ewing, NJ reaching Mercer, Burlington and
Bucks counties. In early spring, a second station (WSFS 89.3
FM) will be added which will broadcast from Freehold, and which
will serve Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties. To find out

Why should I register in the parish?
All members of the parish ought to be formally registered as
members of the parish. However you MUST be formally
registered if you wish to arrange a Baptism, a Confirmation or a
Wedding in the parish Church. You MUST also be formally
registered if you wish to register in the Parish School or the
Religious Education (CCD) Program. You must be a registered
member of the parish for at least three months before you can
obtain a Sponsor Certificate or schedule a Baptism or a Wedding.
