Hope and Dream(Wish)

Hope is something that we want to happen and we work hard for it to happen.

But

We are not sure whether it will happen or not

We can say that:

Hopes and dreams show future intention

See some examples bellow:

1. Im hoping for a good grade in mathematics.

2. Im hoping to finish all my work on time.

3. I hope to study in UK next year.

4. I hope that there is enough food for everyone in this classroom.

5. I hope she finds her parents soon.

6. I hope that I will be honest during the test.

The Difference between hope and dream :

Wish is usually used in the past tense, though it can be used in present tense.
It often talks about regrets or wants.

I wish I hadnt made that mistake.

I wish I had started sooner.

I wish I had a dog.

Hope works more for future tense, though it can also be used for the present
tense. It often focuses on aspirations.

I hope to find love.

I hope I get a good TOEFL score.

I hope you enjoyed the show.

Hope and wish have very similar meanings. We use them to express our desire for
something different from how it is now. In a nutshell, hope mainly expresses a
desire that is possible or likely to happen. Wish usually expresses a desire that
is impossible or unlikely to happen. To express a future desire, hope usually takes a
simple present verb, and wish mostly follows the pattern of the second
conditional (i.e., using would and other past patterns). In the past, wish follows the
pattern of the third conditional (i.e., using had + p.p.).
