CONTRACT CWA/C2015/66 RENEWAL OF PIPELINE AT SURINAM

SUBJECT: EXTRA PAYMENT DUE TO ADVERSE GROUND CONDITIONS

We refer to your letter dated 21st August 2017 and we wish to further clarify the issues mentioned.

With reference to the Bill of Quantities (BoQ), Item 3.0, the rate for excavation shall cater for
excavation in rocks, and also to include all damages and repairs to road sides. According to Clause
3.05 of the Specifications attached in the Contract Document, no payment will be made for excess
excavation, material filling excess excavation or overbeakage.

It is the responsibility of the Contractor to determine an estimate of rock content in the region of
Surinam by conducting trial pits while preparing its rate. The Central Water Authority is, in no
case, responsible for any financial losses, incurred by the Contractor due to the adverse ground
conditions during the execution of the Contract.

However, the Contractor is informed to forward us written records and photographic evidence,
for us to consider and evaluate such related claims in the future.
