Respect

It was the 4th of July and we were at my grandmas house as we do every year. There

were a lot of people there who usually dont come to family functions. For example we havent

seen my cousin Ethan or his family since a funeral that we went to two years ago. Ethans dad

Tim was notorious for having the strongest political and religious views out of everyone in the

family. Towards the end of the night an argument had broken out between my father Rick and

Ethans dad Tim. The argument started over politics but now Tim tried to make it about my dad

being a bad father. Multiple people had told my dad not to respond to what Tim had to say and

instead of talking back. My father respectfully told Tim that he was drunk and that he didnt

mean what he was saying. When everything cooled off the party resumed and everybody ended

up having a good time. The next day when Tims wife told him what had happened and when he

realized what he did he asked my dad if he could meet him for lunch. My dad reluctantly

accepted Tims invitation. At lunch Tim apologize for the way he was acting the other night and

my my father explained how he was really close to punching him in the face and Tim completely

understood why my father felt like this. They forgave each other and ended on good terms.

Now thats respect !!
