9/8/2017 Observed Lesson Analysis

One strategy that I believe went well in this lesson is the technology transitions, in

which we moved from the agenda slide, to a CNN video, and then over to a PowerPoint for

their democracy notes. An iPad app called Doceri has proven to be extremely useful in

making smooth transitions on the board, without having to go over to the computer. Also, I

used an app called Popsicle Sticks, where it generated random student volunteers for my

questions. This is helpful in getting more class participation and engagement, so it is not

the same students answering my questions. I also think the questioning and review

strategies that I used throughout my lesson was effective in accessing their prior

knowledge and also assessing their understanding of the lesson. One adaptation I would

like to make to the lesson with is providing more visuals and engaging multimedia aspects

to the notes presentation. Also, another adaptation I discussed with my supervisor is

adding more interesting anecdotes and facts to my lecture that will engage my students and

better interest them in the content.
