S.W.O.T
STRENGTHS
Due to the fact that we had all completed our AS media studies course successfully,
we had experience and knowledge of what to do to make our A2 production
successful. We were aware on what we should and shouldnt do in order to complete
our production efficiently.
As we fit into our target audience (15-30), we were aware on what would appeal to
our target audience. This made our film more appealing as we knew what our target
audience wanted to see.
Our group had good communication which was beneficial for our production. Having
good communication ensured that each group member was aware on what was
happening. For example, having good communication made sure that each person
was aware of the dates we would be filming.
Both the actor and actress in our film study the subject drama. This gave our film
better quality and helped to make it more realistic.
Our film only has 2 characters in it. This was highly beneficial as it meant that we
werent relying on a lot of people. It made it easier to select dates to film as there
werent many people that needed to be available.
Throughout our film, there are two different locations. The main location in our film
is a house. This made the filming process easier as it meant that we didnt need to
worry about things such as weather conditions.
WEAKNESSES
As I was the cinematographer in the group, I had to spend extra time practising my
camera skills as I was quite weak.
Due to the fact that we had one scene outside, weather conditions became an issue
as the weather forecasted rain for a long period of time. This made it difficult to film
the scene as the weather conditions were constantly changing.
As our film is based on extremely topics (domestic abuse and suicide), we had to be
very careful with what content we included so that we didnt offend any viewers.
Another weakness was when group members werent present in lesson. This was
inconvenient as other group members couldnt discuss ideas or plan when to film as
it couldnt be confirmed.
OPPORTUNITIES
We had a large amount of software/hardware available to us which gave us the
opportunity to produce work of a high quality. When we werent aware on how to
use certain software/hardware, we easily figured out how to use it.
Having our media teacher and technician on hand was helpful as it meant that we
were able to get advice on how to use our skills to help us produce the best film
possible.

Having a large variety of equipment was helpful as it meant that we could

experiment with our work to make it as good as possible. For example, using a 50mil
lens
THREATS
Equipment was limited which meant that being able to film whenever we wanted
wasnt guaranteed as other students were also using the equipment.
Taking out equipment such as a battery without checking it could have been a threat.
For example, if we took out a battery that wasnt charged, we wouldnt have been
able to film.
Having the wrong equipment to film would have also been a threat. For example, if
we needed to take out a microphone and didnt, we may have not been able to film,
or wouldve had footage with poor quality.
Group members schedules were also a threat. Group members had work, as well as
other subjects to do work for. This made it difficult to find time to film were all group
members could be present.
Actors/actresses schedules were also a threat as we also had to find time were they
were able to film.
