Note
Please observe safety notes and warnings for your own safety.
The new functionality of C37.94 for SWT 3000 supports only the standalone device. The feature is
implemented in PowerSys versions P3.4.120, except for P3.5.100.
The SWT 3000 is operating via optical fiber with multiplexer or data converter that supports IEEE C37.94. For
each transmission direction, a separate fiber is necessary.
Note
For more information, refer to the Equipment Manual, Chapter Technical Data.
Note
1. Both SWT 3000 have the same FOM C37.94 module and the same configuration (that means the same data
rate).
2. FOM C37.94 can be used as primary or secondary path and in any combination with other digital or analog
interfaces on another path.
CAUTION
Exercise caution with laser beams of the optical plug-in modules.
The laser beams can damage your eyes. If you do not comply with the safety notes, this will result in
medium severe or slight injuries.
Do not look directly into the optical fiber terminals of the active optical plug-in modules, not even with
optical devices.
Note
Laser class 1 is adhered to in compliance with EN 60825-1 and EN 60825-2, in the case of 62.5 m/125 m
optical fibers.
Configuration of C37.94
Note
2 SWT 3000 which are equipped with FOM_C37.94 can be connected directly either with the DCE setting
(clock source) or the DTE setting. This connection is used only for testing the connection and functionality of
the FOM_C37.94.
In normal operation, the mode C37.94-DTE is used and the clock source is the external multiplexer or data
converter.
If C37.94 has been selected in both digital interfaces boxes, the data rate 1 corresponds to the digital interface
1 and the data rate 2 corresponds to the digital interface 2 (refer to the following figure).
If only one interface has been selected, only the corresponding data-rate field is enabled. The other one is
disabled (refer to the following figure).
According to IEEE C37.94, the data rate must be 1 to 12 x 64 kbps. It can be selected via the list box of data
rate 1 or data rate 2 in tab System of the SWT 3000 Configuration.
For the standard configuration C37.94 DTE, it is also possible to detect automatically the data rate of the DCE
device by selecting Auto in the data-rate field.
Figure 1-5 Configuring the Data Rate by Selecting the Option Auto
Note
For the setting of the Tx and Rx address, Siemens recommends using a pair of 2 different address numbers
as stated in the following table.
Device A Device B
TX-add. = 1 RX-add. = 1
RX-add. = 2 TX-add. = 2
The FOM type that was plugged into the slot can be read in the field Firmware-overview. The type must be
C37.94 (refer to the following figure).
If a FOM board type other than FOS-3 is plugged into the slot and the FOM board is configured with the C37.94,
the hardware alarm and configuration alarm are issued. The type of FOM board appearing in the field must be
FOM (refer to the following figure).
Note
For more information, refer to the Equipment Manual, Chapter Technical Data.
