Expectations and Procedures:


1. You will arrive ON TIME daily, with ALL materials including book, folder, binder, paper, and a pen
or pencil.
2. You will conduct yourself in a responsible and professional manner in class.
3. Contribute to a positive learning environment. You will respect all students in the class.
4. If you are not in class, you cannot learn the new material. Therefore, be here.
5. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to meet with me and get our make-up work (only approved
excuse absences will be allowed to be made up).
6. Being late to class WILL result in detention and possibly a disciplinary referral.
7. Gum, Candy, and Soda are not allowed in class.
8. Your phone is not to be used or seen in class whatsoever, unless directed by the teacher. Neither is an
iPod to be seen or heard. Save that for your breaks/lunch
9. Use the restroom before or after class. Again, if you are not in class you are not learning the material.
If there is an emergency come see me directly. All others will result in detention for however long you
are gone.
10. Care for and maintain an orderly classroom. Do not draw or carve on my desks, or rock on your chairs
(four legs on the ground).
11. Absolutely no cheating will be tolerated. Cheating will result in an F for any students involved,
directly or indirectly.
Citizenship
Citizenship performance (tardies, absences, write ups, etc.) is also tracked and reported to determine
eligibility to participate in extracurricular school activities. To ensure success, it is important for you to be
in class and prepared to learn at the start of each instruction period.
Extra Help
If you need extra help with the material, arrangements can be made to meet before school, at brunch,
lunch, or after school. I am available to meet most days from 7am to 3pm. Make an appointment with me
first to make sure I do not have other arrangements.

Schedule: 9-week course/ 44-45 instruction days


The curriculum is broken into the following 8-Units:
Unit 1: A Healthy Foundation
Unit 2: Physical Activity and Nutrition
Unit 3/4: Mental and Emotional Health, Promoting Safe and Healthy Relationships
Unit 5: Personal Care and Body Systems/Sexual Education
Unit 6: Growth and Development
Unit 7: Tobacco, Alcohol, and Other Drugs
Unit 8: Diseases and Disorders
Tests/Final
There will be a Unit test after each (1-8) Unit, as well as one Final consisting of information from all units
(1-8). It is vitally important for you, not only to read the assigned pages, but to also be present and
engaged in each class, since Mr. Daniels will also test on supplemental information only presented in
class.

Welcome to Mr. Daniels Health Education class. I am privileged to be able to teach you on a subject that
is my passion, and which is relevant to our lives from its conception. Health is something central to every
single one of us and possessing accurate knowledge on how to attain good health is a gift to all. I hope
to inspire you to be the healthiest version of yourself that you can possibly be, and look forward to
hearing your views and opinions on the different topics we explore.
