Discipline Plan

Mr. Taylor, 4th Grade, Walter Woodward School

Self-discipline is a key factor in being successful in life. With this factor in mind, I have developed
a simple Classroom Discipline Plan that will allow every student to manage his/her own behavior. I
strongly believe that every student deserves the right to come into a safe and positive atmosphere. Within
a positive classroom setting, students are able to maximize their learning potential, both academically and
socially. This plan coincides with the ideals that are taught through the districts Character Counts
Program. The main point is that a positive learning environment leads to positive and successful students.
Therefore, this plan will be in effect throughout the year.
CLASSROOM STANDARDS:
1. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
2. Pay attention to what is being taught and follow directions the first time they are given.
3. Complete all assignments and turn them in on time.
4. Be responsible for your own actions.
5. Respect yourself, Respect others and Respect the school.
In addition to praise and positive reinforcement from the teacher, rewards are given to both individuals
and the classroom as a whole for good behavior.
This can include:
1. Mustang Bucks (individual reward) -for grade level raffles.
2. Marble Jar (class reward)-when filled the whole class receives a party.
3. Stamp reward card (individual)- students can earn a stamp daily for being prepared, on task and
being positive. Stamps can also be earned for a myriad of positive interactions including the prize
box.
If a student chooses an inappropriate action, the following may occur:
1st consequence Warning
2nd consequence Loss of one or more recesses which could also include writing sentences.
3rd consequence Loss of all recesses plus a citation. Common consequences include: cleaning the
cafeteria, picking up trash, assisting supervisors, writing sentences, discipline essay.
Consequence based on infraction. Parent will also be notified.
4th consequence Same as above + Parent Conference. *Multiple citations require a meeting too*
** Serious or continual infractions will result in an office referral**
Please discuss this Discipline Plan with your child as inappropriate behavior and incomplete
homework could prevent your child from participating in fun classroom activities and lower their grades.
A positive classroom is a learning classroom. Please check off the list on the front sheet to confirm that you
have read and discussed the discipline policy with your child.
