GRADING POLICY

Mr. Taylor
4th Grade, Walter Woodward School
Students will receive letter grades on their report cards for all academic areas. It is very important
that all work be turned in when it is due. A zero can seriously affect your child’s grade. The following is
the percentage breakdown for the grades:
A+ 100% A 94-99% A- 90-93%
B+ 88-89% B 84-87% B- 80-83%
C+ 78-79% C 74-77% C- 70-73%
D+ 68-69% D 64-67% D- 60-63%
F 59% or lower Converted Grade Relations: E=A, S+=B, S=C, S-=D, N= F
Students are encouraged to become responsible learners and therefore, late work will NOT receive
full credit. Late work will only be accepted the day after it is due for half credit. Late work will Not be
accepted after that. This policy includes all class work (if not paying attention in class) and homework
assignments.
Absent students will have the same number of days they were absent to make up any missing
assignments. For example, if a student missed three days of school, they would have three days after
returning to school to turn in the missing work for full credit. It is up to the student to make sure they
have all of their missing assignments completed by the correct due date.
My goal for the students is to have them leave the 4th grade understanding the concepts that have
been taught throughout the year. In order to promote the understanding of major math concepts, I do
allow most 100-point tests to be retaken. Tests that can be redone are at the teacher’s discretion. In order
to retake a major test, the student must meet the following criteria: 1. Student corrects all incorrect
questions. 2. Parent/guardian must sign the test. 3. Student must confirm a day with Mr. Taylor to stay
after school to retake their test. 4. Test must be retaken before the next test is issued. *The highest score a
student can receive on a retaken test is a 70%, C-*
Please check off the list on the front sheet to confirm that you have read and discussed the grading
policy with your child.
