STEP BY STEP PROCESS OF

INSITU-METALLOGRAPHY
1. Select the specific location on the job where the metallography has
to be done.
2. Pre-clean the place with dry cloth.
3. Hi-Speed Hand drill machine is to be used.
4. Grinding should be done using different Grit-size of abrasive paper
based on type/surface condition of the job.
5. Grit size equivalent to their diameter of the abrasives used.(in
microns)

6. Finally use velvet clot with diamond paste for fine polishing.
7. Apply suitable etchant based on the material for the etching
process.
8. Then place the potable micrometer in a rigid position to get the
proper images of the material.
9. Adjust the eye piece of the micrometer to get the required
microscopic image of the material.
10. Remove the eyepiece and place the digital camera firmly
over the micrometer.
11. Zoom the image to get the microscopic image of the material
at 100X and 200X for reporting.
