Tutorial: How to make a Working Spring.
1. Step 1

1. Draw a Sketch in Front View as shown in fig. and revolve that circle
around center axis to 180 degree.
2. Step 2

2. Make a reference point from reference geometry. and select the edge of
circle as in fig.
do same as in other side

3. Step 3
3. Make a reference axis from reference geometry. and select that point and
face of circle is in fig.
Do same as in other side

4. Step 4

4. Now make a mate reference from reference geometry. in primary

reference entry select face.
And select coincident in mate reference type. and select anti-alined in mate
reference alinement
In second reference geometry select axis.
And select coincident in mate reference type. and select any in mate
reference alinement
5. Step 5

5. Do same in other side. and save the document in a proper known place.

6. Step 6

6. Open new assembly..

In design library add file location.
7. Step 7

7. Specify the path you saved the document.

8. Step 8

8. Now select the saved part and drag and drop into graphic area anywhere.
9. Step 9

9. This will look like this.

10. Step 10

10. When you drag another pert, when you move-over the part on the first
one the reference relation
will come and your part will pleased automatically
As shown in this fig.

11. Step 11

11. Now add another part as same method of second one.

12. Step 12
12. Add 15 parts. with same method.

13. Step 13

13. First show view planes from the hide show items. then show the top
plate of any of the inserted parts.

14. Step 14
14. Using multiple mate mode, select parallel relation and select only those
top planes that are selected in image.

15. Step 15

15. Do same, make another parallel relation for these top planes.

16. Step 16
16. Now make parallel top planes of top most and bottom most parts only.

17. Step 17

17. Now make right planes coincident of top most and bottom most parts
only.

18. Step 18
18. Now you are able to move spring in any position.(compressed) using
move component commend.

19. Step 19

19. Also expended position.

and model is completed.
1. Step 1

This is the working spring made in NX

2. Step 2

1. First of all, open new part.

Use revolve commend on front (xz) plane. And Draw sketch as in drawing.
3. Step 3

2. Make revolve in 180 degree in direction as in image.

Save the part at a specified place

4. Step 4

3. Open new assembly. and Add new part, which you saved before.
Select absolute Origen from placement, positioning section. And apply.
5. Step 5

4. This will look like this.. and Make a fix type assembly constrain to the
part you added recently.

6. Step 6

5. Now add another same part, but now select by constraints in placement,
positioning section. And apply.
7. Step 7

6. Make a concentric relation between the edges of both parts as shown in

image.

8. Step 8

7. Add another same component, and apply.

9. Step 9

8. Select two highlight edges for make another concentric relation.

10. Step 10

9. This will be maybe looking like this... doesnt need to worry.

Use move component commend and select by constrains in type section.
11. Step 11

10. Now drag and drop the upper component as position as shown in fig. and
click apply

12. Step 12

11. Now add another same part and make concentric relation as done before,
if required use move commend again to position like Spring.
13. Step 13

12. New to add is the parallel relation between these two highlights parts. As
shown in fig. and after select both click apply.

14. Step 14

13. Add another part and make concentric relation, same as before.
Add the parallel relation between these two highlight parts. As shown in fig.
and click apply.
15. Step 15

14. Do same process and relations for number of parts as in fig.

This will not be same as in fig. that will be correct in last part.

16. Step 16

15. Add last part.

17. Step 17

16. Make concentric relation.

18. Step 18

17. Now add a parallel relation to the centre axis of first and last part you
added recently, as shown in fig.
19. Step 19

18. You can add other small revolved parts with concentric relation to edge
of the spring ends.
This will be the final part you make.

20. Step 20
19. Now you can move the spring to required position as this is expended
position.
Model is completed for used in assembly.
