nj.com reports that a retired Newark police officer shot a man who allegedly attempted to

steal his car outside of a carwash. The 23 year old Krishad Jones was charged with sec-

ond-degree robbery and is being held in custody at University Hospital, according to the

Union County Prosecutors office. Police arrived on the scene around 5 a.m. on Edgar

Road, just south of the Bayway Circle. The prosecutors office stated "The investigation

revealed that the retired officer was physically assaulted just before the shooting took

place,. If anyone has any additional information on the incident are asked to call the

prosecutors office of Detective Dennis Donovan sat 908-527-4558.
