According to Descartes, there are two kinds of substance namely the material substance and mental

substance.
Mental substance talks about the
Attribute of thought and it is a non-spatial substance. It is the
Modes of thought e.g.,images, emotions, beliefs, desires.
It is private(privileged access). The Material substance talks about Attribute of spatial extension.
It refers to the Modes of extension e.g.,form, location, texture, weight
It is public. Descartes explains that mind (mental substance) has unique properties unshared by
physical substance and therefore These different substances, though radically different and
ontologically independent, nevertheless interact with one another.
