About IIFT
With the vision of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up on May 2nd 1963,
for facilitating foreign trade related research and training. The Institute has evolved and undergone major
transformations and has, broadened the scope and dimensions of its academic activity which now encompasses
a full spectrum of international business. Today, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is widely recognized for its

IIFT Kolkata
IIFT has flagged off a new chapter in its illustrious legacy
with the new Kolkata campus with the new campus
recently becoming operational, IIFT Kolkata started in
2006, is set to achieve newer heights. The beautifully
landscaped and fully residential campus has state-of-art
facilities and is set amidst lush greenery and foliage. It
aims to foster an environment of holistic growth and
facilitate on campus peer learning.
The new campus includes conference rooms, convention centres, seminar halls and other ancillary facilities.
The classes for the first batch have already started with students making full utilization of the uber-cool
classrooms and the spacious, well ventilated accommodation that the new infrastructure offers. The
classrooms are abreast with the latest hi-tech equipment that will enable a seamless flow of knowledge. The
premises also have a guest-house for the convenience of visitors and in-campus accommodation for faculty
members so that the students can avail their guidance at all times.
Moreover, the IIFT campus at Kolkata houses a WTO cell to cater to the policy requirement for international
business. This helps to enhance the capacities of bureaucrats and industries alike on policy and advocacy issues
involving international business like WTO, FTA, and PTAs etc.

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is proud to bring out the Autumn Summit of Model
United Nations conference on 6th & 7th August 2016 at its Kolkata Campus, the first ever
MUN in East India to witness delegations from countries around the world. It is being
organized under the ambit of the Media Committee of the institute with an aim to
promote intellectual reasoning and professionalism by means of quality debating on
global issues and policies. Nothing in this world is permanent and change does not take
place by itself, it needs simulation and participation at some ground level and that's
exactly what we plan to do. Come join us and be a part of our endeavor to bring about
this change.
Being a premier B-school providing education in International Business, Trade Policies and
Global Economies, IIFT has morphed the typical MUN with agendas that deal with political
as well as trade aspects of the global economies. The 2-day event will be a rigorous,
intellectually challenging and extremely competitive experience witnessing a footfall of
over 400 students and will set an example for being one of the most challenging MUNs
in the country, but at the same time, we promise to make it an enjoyable and memorable
experience for all of our stake-holders.
The event offers young minds the opportunity to present their ideas, and to get
experience and skills that matter today. It promotes creativity, innovation, peace,
harmony and inclusive development. It also focuses on providing a platform for youth
leadership development. A detailed event blueprint has been enclosed herein. We
anticipate an optimistic reply and hope our initiative interests you.
The conference will have some of the best MUNners and debators from various top B-
schools across the country as well as abroad. Since our event would be a pan India event
among the B-schools, Law Schools, T-Schools and also some of Kolkatas best Senior
Secondary schools, we expect participation in large numbers.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade in its more than five

decades of existence has always connected with the
industry and policy makers alike. In this endeavour, it has
hosted various dignitaries and offered a platform for
enriching dialogue through a variety of activities.
I am happy that this year too we are bringing out a new
edition entitled MUN16, which is aimed at discussing
global issues of immense significance. The event hosted
from Kolkata campus would see prominent speakers from
Dr. K Rangarajan various student fraternities as well as different embassies
and consulates in India. I welcome all our stakeholders to

The Autumn Summit
Overview
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is associated with renowned organizations like
WTO, OECD, US Embassy etc. which come to our prestigious institute for recruitment and
guest lectures. IIFT, over the past decades, has come to occupy the coveted position of
being among the top 10 B-Schools of India with campuses in Kolkata and New Delhi. IIFT had
established the Centre for WTO Studies in the year 1999 as a permanent repository of WTO
negotiations-related knowledge and documentation. It was also envisaged that the Centre
would evolve into a research unit with interest in Trade in general and WTO in particular to
finally develop into an independent think tank in the area.

IIFT has a significant training component in which IIFT trains the future managers and leaders
of the country. We not only train senior members of IAS, IPS and other Central Government
Services but also the executives of PSUs including MMTC, STC, etc. besides highly technical
members of Indian Air Force. Our training capabilities have been nationally recognized.

1. Vivaan - THE INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SUMMIT -2015

Prism of opportunities for India and the World
Indian Institute of Foreign Trades Kolkata campus organized Vivaan, the first business
summit in its new campus with pomp and grandiosity. The three-day event held from 4th
to 6th September 2015 commenced on Friday at the sprawling new campus of IIFT in the
presence of luminaries from a variety of backgrounds. True to its name, the first edition of
the business summit ushered in a new era of IIFT with great enthusiasm from the
academia.
