Professional Development using Google Sites Application

Catalog Description:
Google Sites is a Google Suite application that enables a user to create their own
unique website. Google Sites provides competence in the organization, structure,
production, and utilization of class materials. The application also allows for better
parent communication opportunities and professional development layouts. Basic
techniques are provided through direct experience in the design and production of a
Google Site.

Goals:
Understand how Google Sites can be beneficial for personal and professional
use.
Understand how to setup a basic site for instructional or home use.
Use technology tools to upload, share, and organize information.
Create a website using multi-media sources.

Objectives:
1. The learners will be able to understand the importance of Google Sites for both
personal and professional use.
a. Learners will be able to explore the many positive aspects of Google
Sites concerning parent communication.
b. Learners will be able to determine the benefits of using Google Sites
towards professional development.
c. Learners will be able determine the benefits of using Google Sites in the
classroom.
2. Learners will be able to set up a basic site for instructional or home use.
a. Learners will sign-in using their google account.
b. Learners will click Create in New Sites.
c. Learners will create a course name and title for their site.
d. Learners will choose a background for their homepage.
3. Learners will be able to use technology tools to upload, share, and organize
information.
a. Learners will see text box feature to add text to their page.
b. Learners will see image feature to add images to their page.
c. Learners will see Embed/URL tool to link or embed items to page.
d. Learners will see Upload tool to upload items from their computer.
e. Learners will see how to use Google Embeds (such as YouTube,
Calendar, and Map)
f. Learners will see how to embed Google Applications into their site.
4. Learners will create a website using multi-media sources.
a. Learners will understand how to add subpages to their website.
b. Learners will understand how to change their theme for their site.
c. Learners will add multimedia to their site and explore tools.
