Disability category Emotional Behavior Disorder

Goal/Objective Role-Play
Giving the student a partner, and then do a role-playing
activity. The goal is to help the student have more social
interactions with other students within the class. The
students with emotional behavior disorder have difficulty
establishing a variety of relationships. This will also allow
the student to get out of their comfort zone and do an
activity that requires movement.
When to use this strategy This strategy can be used in many and most cases with
students who have emotional behavior disorder. You can use
this with a student who is very unmotivated and unwilling to
learn and speak with peers. Having peer relationships and
doing work with a seat partner is very important for
emotional behavior disorder students. Role playing will
allow the students to get out of their comfort zone with a
peer to learn and maybe make a new friend in class.
Step by step instruction- How 1. Students will be assigned a partner.
to use this in a English 2. They will read an article about a time in history.
classroom. You will partner 3. The students will then take time to create their own
with a classmate to teach them role play scenarios.
your strategy so be explicit and 4. They will then preform the role play to the teacher
provide a sample for your and only the teacher. (this was the student does not
partner. get embarrassed in front of the class)
Assessment- How could this This strategy is a good way to assess the student because
strategy be used to evaluate they must act out the role play to the teacher. This will be a
student learning? good way to see how the student understands the
information and if they got the correct concepts of the event.
My concept area is History so this would be a very good
activity in my classroom. There are many things that can be
acted out in history such as battles, specific events, and even
acting out things people did in history. Assessing a student
this way will allow for the student to get out of their comfort
zone and be in a more social interacting activity in class.
