Hodos writing skills.

Kia ora Hodo today I noticed you sitting at the table with teacher Ahlam. You were listening
to her and watching her write letters on the blackboard. The first letter teacher Ahlam put
up was the letter R. You made a beautiful R Hodo and teacher Ahlam praised you for a job
well done, however you kept glancing over to Rhamas and seemed a little sad because hers was
bigger. Hodo each child learns in their own way, which means there can be wide variation in
the rate and timing of learning and in developing the capacity to apply new knowledge and skills
in different contexts. Hodo your individual learning goal for this term was developing
confidence in your abilities. You should be very proud of what you are doing, we certainly are,
so keep up the good work.

Because children develop holistically, they need a broad rich curriculum that enables them to
grow their capabilities across all dimensions. Using the little blackboards was a way of being
able to draw the letter and if you made a mistake it was easy to fix.

Contribution / Mana Tangata: Children experience an environment where there are equitable
opportunities for learning, irrespective of gender, ability, age, ethnicity or background. Over
time and with guidance and encouragement, children become increasingly capable of the
awareness of their own special strengths and confidence that these are recognised and valued.

Where to next: Hodo we will continue to help you build on your confidence level by giving you
opportunities that you can achieve easily so that once your confidence is at a high level you will
challenge yourself and feel great with what youve achieved.
