TITLE: COMMUNAL VIOLENCE

AIM:
Communal violence threatens the secular fabric, unity, integrity and internal
security of a nation.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM:
The term includes conflicts, riots and other forms of violence. This research aims
to study communal violence between communities of different religious faith or
ethnic origins.

OVERVIEW OF LITERATURE:
PRIMARY SOURCES-
Bruised Monster.

Communalism and communal violence in India.

SECONDARY SOURCES-
Playing the Communal Card.

Slaughter among neighbors.


CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK:
A community is a social unit of any size that shares common values.

Whereas, violence is defined by World Health Organisation as The intentional use


of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself , another person, or
against a group or community, which either results in or has a high likelihood of
resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopement or deprivation.

Using these two concepts of Community and Violence, the research will be taken
forward.

What is the overall effect of Communal Violence?
