SEMINAR 5

In this weeks seminar, the topic of the environmental biology major was discussed. McGill
offers this course on Mac Campus. The location is ideal, as it provides student with a hands-on
experience to interact with a variety of organisms within a variety of ecosystems. In addition, it
allows students to become familiar with the outdoors preparing them for careers as ecologists,
field biologist, or taxonomists. Students may then specialize in areas such as wildlife biology,
applied ecology, and plant biology. The course requires 42 credits.
The next topic was the Life Sciences program, which provides an extensive study in plant,
animal, molecular and microbiological studies. Students graduating from this course are well
rounded with experience in environmental, biotechnological, agricultural and health studies.
Moreover, the extensive lab work and scientific writing sharpens students writing skills and
reinforces a hands-on manner. This program requires 42 credits and forms the basis for various
graduate study programs.
