Materials /media/resources needed to teach the lesson you are presenting today:

Overview of strategy:
(Briefly discuss strategy and how/when the strategy would be best used. When would
it be most effective? What type of students would most benefit from learning this way?

Minds eye is a reading strategy that uses dual-coding to help students retain
information read. 20-30 words are selected from a text, and students are asked to
create a picture in their head as the words are read by the teacher. They then use
their picture to either draw the picture, ask a question, make a prediction, or
describe their feelings. After this, they read the text, and reflect on their original
thoughts compared to what they read.
This strategy is best used to introduce new, declarative
information/knowledge. It is most effective when knowledge taught is text-heavy.
The learning styles the strategy fits are interpersonal and self-expressive.
