What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?

Overall, I expect the students learning goal to have a strong understanding of some of the
different types of weather. Also, I want the students to be able to express how these
different types of weather appear visually.

How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply.

☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.

x☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

x☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their

learning and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached
by displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.

Lesson idea implementation:

The students would go through the digital book and observe some of the different weather
types, in which they would be expected to come up with an idea of how they want different
resources they want to use to be able to express themselves. Students will be able to pick
one weather type and recall a memory of an experience they had with that weather, in which
then these students will add narration to their picture to share to the class. As a teacher, I
would give the students an example of my own experience to get their ideas flowing. At the
end of the lesson, the students will be able to display their work for all others to see and to
be educated on the different weather types. Also, this allows student to work on their
creative writing skills.

Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts?

For this assignment I would have different centers set up, in which the student will be able to
choose where they would like to create their memory. There could be centers such as
computer center, drawing center, and a visual center (where students use hands on object to
build their memory). By having these groups, this allows for the students to communicate
with on another and develop different ideas to create a memory that was made based off
their experiences with different weather types. Allowing students to have different
exploration of different activities allows the students to find different ways to allow
themselves to be creative in their own way. Overall, at the end of the lesson, I will draw back
the students and allow them to demonstrate what they have learned to the class based off
that they have experienced, sharing allows for creative idea that might spark within others
that they may have not been aware of. Also, by letting the students choose what they would
like to do will all of them to stay focused on the overall learning goals.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

By allowing your classroom to be flexible to all learns helps ensure that students are engaged
and willing to learn. Within the digital book, not only do the students get to visually see the
book, but as well as being able to listen to the screen recording. Another beneficial factor of
the digital book would be the subtitles which can be shown in different languages for those
non-English learners. Also, the digital book allows for the student to be engaged in numerous
ways, in which it as questions to get the students minds thinking. The importance of having
different representations throughout the digital book allows for all learns to be able to
participate this is beneficial by have the book read allowed as well as subtitles. By allowing
the students to develop their own creative memory allows them to express who they are
though their learning. Also, by having the students collaborate with one another allows for

the students to work on their communication skills with one another.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:

I feel as though this lesson idea is a creative idea to allow students to learn from their
experience, while also learning how to make connections. Overall, the part I’m looking
forward to the most would be letting the students work on their own memory, in which it
helps teachers learn more about the students while also allowing classmates to learn about
one another.
