Lesson Idea
Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy Level(s): (Which level(s) will this lesson meet using this technology
tool?)
How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply. (Sometimes only one option will
apply.)
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by
displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
Lesson idea implementation: Write a paragraph describing how the lesson will be
implemented using the prompts as your guide:
First, the students and I will read and listen to a book talking about different national holidays

that are celebrated around the world. I will create and narrate this book by using PowerPoint
and screencast-o-matic. Then we will go around the room and have students talk about
different holidays they celebrate with their families so that the students can learn about
other cultures. Then, I will guide the students through making a PowerPoint slide with
pictures that show different parts of the holiday traditions. Next, I will show them how to
record their voice using screencast-o-matic and they will get to talk about their holiday and
describe their slide. Lastly, I will combine all the slides together to make one long narrated
slideshow for the class to watch together.
Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts? Learning how to use different functions on
PowerPoint will show the children that they can make anything they want with a little
creativity. The lesson will keep them engaged because they will get the chance to choose
their own holiday to talk about so they will be more excited from the start because they get
to teach their classmates. After doing the project, they will know how to use two different
technologies to enhance their creativity.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): This lesson supports all learners because multiple
cultures will be recognized and highlighted throughout the entire lesson. I can also make this
lesson work for students with disabilities by offering assistive technologies available through
the school such as different computer keyboards and mice as well as microphones and text-
to-speech technology to help them better record their voices.
