How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply.

☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.

presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.

☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by

The students will watch my story about Independence Day all together and explain how they
will be using PowerPoint to make their own story about a holiday they choose. Then I will
break them up into groups and put them with an adult to work on their group story in

PowerPoint. Students will all have a chance to talk their ideas out and what they know about
the holiday to the adult, then the adult will compose all their ideas into the PowerPoint. After
all the stories are completed, I will play them for the class so we can see what one another
has done with their stories.

Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts?
The students will work in groups of 5 to 6 students with an adult to help them Co-use their
technology during this project, they will have a total 2 days to finish their story. Each
volunteer will pull one student at a time from their group to create their page for the story.
As the other students are waiting their turn, they will be doing the activity I have set aside of
coloring an American Flag and creating patriotic pinwheels. These 2 days I will set aside an
hour or 2 to allow them to work with their group. Every 15-20 minutes I will walk to each
group to ask their ideas and how things are going to make sure they are on task and working.
This will help show me how they work together.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

All students will be able to interact with my activity with the help of the volunteer adult that
will be put with each group. My activity helps students by letting them engage in my story
that I will present to them and then having them build their own PowerPoint story based on
seeing the story I created.

Reflecting on enhanced learning:

The students will be able to understand each holiday and be able to explain what they had
learned to the volunteers and the volunteers are there to guide their ideas in order to create
the story. I am most excited to have each student be creative with their stories to see what
they have learned and how they want their story to go.
