Lesson Idea
ISTE Technology Standard Addressed: What would you like students to know and
Creative Communicate- 1.6c Students be able to do by the end of this lesson:
communicate complex ideas clearly and I will like for the students to understand and
effectively by creating or using a variety of recognize their shapes by seeing visual

or simulations.
1.1c- Students use technology to seek
feedback that informs and improves their
practice.
What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea? Students will know the difference
between their shapes and identify them when using technology.
How will this lesson be implemented? Check all that apply. (Sometimes only one option will
apply.)
☐ Teacher-directed: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations.
☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic for
presentation and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. Products of
learning will be uniquely designed. Teacher simply facilitates the learning in a lesson like this.
☐ Project-based and/or Publishable: Students are completing projects to demonstrate their learning
and the projects can be shared outside of the classroom. This objective could be reached by

displaying the project on the school’s morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom
blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing it via an outside source.
Managing engagement: Describe a way to use this technology in a way that gets students
actively involved in authentic tasks and contexts?
The way I will get them involve is by first explaining to the students what we are doing first.
Then I will show them the software we will be using on my smart board. I will go through how
to use t step by step until the students understand. Last, I will have some students to come to
the board to get familiar with the technology by doing some practice.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Reflect upon the activity you have planned for the
students. The technology tool you selected for this lesson idea should support ALL students.
How does this activity and the technology tools you selected support and enhance the
learning experience for students in the classroom? Support your argument using at least one
of the following principles of UDL: How does this tool support Engagement, Representation
or Action and Expression components of the UDL framework?
For this activity I have choose to be WHAT SHAPE I’M I? With this I decide that the IXL
software would go great with the activity I came up with. This activity and tool support and
enhance the learning experience for students in the classroom by increasing their
understanding, knowledge and thinking skills. The first principle I will Choose is “Provide
Multiple Means of Representation” and the second one will be Provide Multiple Means of
Expression.” It supports representation by learning in different ways that they can perceive
ad comprehend information that is presented to them. With expression that can navigate a
learning environment and express what they know.
I feel this lesson idea will impact students learning be helping them understanding and
identifying what shapes are presented. I look forward to doing the whole lesson idea. This is a
great idea to use in the classroom so the child can know their shapes.
