Lesson Idea Name: Similarities between Multiplication and Division Content Area: Mathematics Grade Level(s): Third Grade
Content Standard Addressed: MGSE3.OA.4 Determine the unknown whole number in a
multiplication or division equation relating three whole numbers using the inverse relationship of multiplication and division. For example, determine the unknown number that makes the equation true in each of the equations, 8 ? = 48, 5 = 3, 6 6 = ?.
Technology Standard Addressed: 6. Creative Communicator
Selected Technology Tool: Glogster

For this lesson, the students will be creating a Glogster to address the standard as it is given. The teachers will be supervising and giving students some feedback for their creation. They will also provide a rubric for the students to follow to show what you expect from them as they create the Glog. The project will be introduced by explaining how numbers can be related through multiplication and division. It will take about 2 class days to complete the project.
The student learning will be assessed by the teaching grading how well they followed the rubric and how technology was incorporated. The final product will be used to inform other students or people trying to learn more about the topic of the inverse relationship between multiplication and division. I will extend the student learning to a level 5 by allowing the students to create their own product on a website that will be published to a wider audience than just our classroom. The lesson will be concluded by a test on how the inverse is implemented and what they learned about multiplication and division. I will provide feedback about the students work by writing on the rubric that I give them and sitting them down separately if they have any questions about their grade.
