Objectives:
The student will demonstrate knowledge of different offensive and defensive
strategies.
The student will cooperate and work with others towards a common goal.
The student will interact with their peers in an appropriate manner.

Learning activities:

Warm-up: Have the students warm up by doing a few laps around the gym. Next
they will perform a few different exercises such as walking lunges, body weight
squats, leg swings, and quad pulls.

Teams: The class will be divided into two different teams. Then each team will
be divided again into offense and defense. If a player is on offense then they must
stay on the opponents side of the court. If a player is on defense then they must
stay on their own side of their court and play defense. During the game, the
offensive and defensive players will occasionally switch to allow the students to
play both offense and defense.

Scoring: In order to move the ball forward the students must pass the ball to a
teammate. The teams may score one point by passing the ball across the opposing
teams baseline. This throw must be from behind the free throw line. The teams
may score two points for a made basket outside of the painted area. The teams
may also score three points by hitting the mat behind the basketball hoop (or
goal). This throw must come from behind the free throw line as well.
Defense: Players on the opposing team may not defend the person with the ball.
The defense is only allowed to have one person stand in the painted area to defend
the mat or goal.
